Lavonne Gertrude Meiners age 84 of Tripoli, IA died Friday, February 26, 2021 at Linn Haven Rehab .& Healthcare in New Hampton, IA.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory -- Olson Chapel in Nashua have been entrusted with Lavonne's arrangements
Lavonne was born on May 17, 1936, the only child of Harold and Gertrude Meiners, on the family farm near Tripoli. As she grew up, she discovered her love for farming. She helped her parents by doing a variety of chores — milking cows, working with beef cattle, tending hogs and chickens and working with the family's horses.
She attended country school through the eighth grade before moving to Tripoli High School, where she was an outstanding student, active in music and speech and a member of the Class of 1954.
Lavonne farmed for much of her life, and she poured her heart and soul into the land and her livestock.
She was a very private person, but if you were her friend, you knew she'd always be there for you.
Lavonne did enjoy going to the Cattle Congress in Waterloo and visiting various fairs around the area.
Lavonne passed away at the Linn Haven Rehab.& Healthcare in New Hampton and prior to that, she resided at the Whispering Willow Assisted Living in Fredericksburg. She was well taken care of and she enjoyed being there.
Those who knew her will miss her dearly, but they also are comforted by the fact that her life was well-lived.

When We had Cozy Van we use to transport Lavonne. All the drivers liked her as she was very nice. I liked our political talks when I transferred her. Sympathy to her family and friends. May she rest is God’s arms now. MaryAnn Diesburg
