Lavonne was born on February 11, 1957 in Osage, IA, the daughter of Ronald and Audrey (Newhouse) Oulman. She was baptized at the Methodist church in Riceville, attended the Riceville Community Schools, where she graduated in 1975. After graduating high school she attended school in Pittsburg, held jobs in Omaha and Colorado; then moved back to Iowa area, where she met her future husband.
She was united in marriage to Joe Bouska of rural Fort Atkinson on June 21, 1980 at Phelps Park, Decorah, IA. Lavonne helped maintain the family farm while raising their four children. Lavonne was an accomplished artist; painting, drawing, sandblasting stones, and daily came up with a new craft/yard project. She was a devoted wife, mother to all, and daughter, and truly adored her family. She always put helping others above herself and enjoyed lending a hand to family, friends, and neighbors. Lavonne loved to be outside, feel the sun on her face and the wind in her hair. One of Lavonne's favorite things was to be with Joe. She enjoyed being on the motorcyle with him and riding on her own scooter. She was currently an active member of the Holy Trinity Parish, working at parish events and she loved to Christmas carol. She was joyfully looking forward to the births of her first two grandchildren this fall.
Lavonne is survived by her husband, Joe; one daughter, Michala Bouska (Ian Floro) of New Albany, IN; three sons, Luke (Tara) of Ankeny, IA, Liberty Bouska (Crystal Wilson) of Elkhart, IA, Lance (Kelly) of Fort Atkinson, IA; her parents, Ronald and Audrey Oulman of Riceville; Siblings, Duane (Dee) Oulman; Keith Oulman; Roni Rae (Steve) Anderlik, Sue Rawhouser all of Riceville, IA; Michele (Jerry) Rosenblad of Stewartville, MN, Linda (Ed) Klimesh of Spillville, IA; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Nathan and Grace Oulman; materal grandparents, Onie Mayo and Viva Newhouse; two nieces, Jodi Oulman and Darci Rawhouser; one nephew, Allen Meyer; brothersin law, Darrel Rawhouser and John Bouska; brother in law Jim and his wife Debbie Bouska, and mother and father in law, Francis and Pauline Bouska.

So saddened to hear of the tragic accident and everything that followed. Tim remembers as a kid growing up in Riceville with Lavonne. She was full of spirit and always a smile on her face. I remember all the fun times we had Christmas Caroling around Protivin. Also Lavonne made us a beautiful stone with our names on it for our wedding. We have it in front of our house and we will cherish it forever! With that said..we will keep the Bouska and Oulman families in our thoughts and prayers. Sincerely Tim and Cindy Howland Protivin Iowa

Our sincere and deepest sympathies to Joe and his family. Also, to the Oulman families. I haven’t been able to see Lavonne and Joe recently since I remarried and moved to Wisconsin. When we would come back to Protiviin to see old friends we would try and catch up on our families. I will miss her beautiful smile! We spent a lot of time cheering our boy’s on during Turkey Valley football games…of course down by the sidelines so we didn’t miss anything….she loved her family. I admired Joe and Lavonne as a couple, they were so loving to each other. Our continued prayers for Joe and his family through this very difficult time. Doug and Pam Sachs (was Vrba)

I am so sorry for the loss of Lavonne and I know Lavonne will be greatly missed…I just wanted to share a thought that gives me comfort and its found at Revelations chapter 21 vs 3,4 which tells us ‘The tent of God is with mankind and He will reside with them….and He will wipe every tear from their eyes and death will be no more neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore the former things have passed away’. This helps us to see that soon God and His Son Jesus will put an end to death forever. What a wonderful promise for the future. Our deepest sympathy to Joe & Family and to the Oulman family. Lavonne lived for her family and found great joy in doing things for them- even as they were adults she still loved to feel needed by them. Just talked to her Thursday night and she was bursting with joy telling me about becoming a Grandma this fall. She was so proud of each of her children she would just beam when you would ask about them. She was very artistic with her sandblasting rock signs and painting wall murals. Talented and fun-loving. We will miss her.
