Lauren F. Kuehner age 66 of Lawler, Iowa died Saturday, July 25, 2015 in rural Lawler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler with Rev. Nick March celebrating the Mass. The pall will be placed by his wife and children. Presenting the offertory gifts will be Lauren's two brothers and two sisters. Jeanette Dietzenbach will be the organist with Dan Silhacek, vocalist. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Kyle Kuehner, William Kuehner, Michael Kuehner, Jason Kuehner, Chris Kuehner, Bret Luense and Kirk Luense as pallbearers Honorary pallbearers will be Arlie Stange, Duane Wurzer, Tim Scheidel, Bill Reicks, Eddie Busta, John Mihm, Larry Bruening, Allan Franzen and the late Dan Carlin. Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Thursday. Funeral arrangements are with Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Lawler. Lauren Florian Kuehner was born April 11, 1949, in New Hampton, IA, the son of Carl and Teresa (Wurzer) Kuehner. He received his elementary education at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Grade School in Lawler and was a 1967 graduate of the Turkey Valley High School. Following graduation he worked at Stone John Deere in Lawler. On May 2, 1970, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church he married his 8th grade sweetheart, Linda Baumler. The couple made Lawler their home where they raised their two sons and two daughters. Lauren worked for over 25 years at Five-Star COOP in Lawler and New Hampton and upon retiring became the custodian for the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and Cemetery in Lawler. Laruen was never far away from farming and loved time he could spend working outdoors. To Lauren, chores were like a hobby. In his free time he enjoyed all sporting events and was a huge Turkey Valley sporting enthusiast. Lauren had been a 25 year member of the Lawler Volunteer Fire Department and was a current member of the Lawler Lions Club. Later in life he began an interest in watching and going to Rodeos. He especially loved the time he could spend with his ever growing family. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda; two sons, Travis (Laura) of Montgomery, IL and Eric (Kim) Kuehner of Lawler; two daughters, Gwen Kuehner of Lawler and Jessica Kuehner of Waverly; eight grandchildren, Abigeal Kuehner, Tyler Kuehner, Ben Kuehner, Austin Kuehner, Alexis Gruenberg, Emmett Kuehner, Gretta Kuehner and Elsie Kuehner; two brothers, Leon (Linda) Kuehner of Hampton and Daryl (Bonnie) Kuehner of Lawler; two sisters, Carlene (Jim) Luense of St. Ansgar and Diane Kuehner of New Hampton; sister-in-law, Shirley Arndt of Lawler; and his trusted dog, Skye. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eugene Kuehner; two brothers-in-law, Ron Maher and Eugene Baumler.

  2. Linda and family, Thinking of all of you during this difficult time…. I wanted to tell you how grateful I was when I was a DRE at Mount Carmel and Lauren was on the Board of Education and later the president of the board of Ed. He was so supported of our program and was willing to back me up when I needed help. He was very dedicated and shown positive leadership in the program. I kind of forgot about it these past ten years, but when something like this sadly happens and pay tribute, it just immediately flash back in my memory. He was just such a joy to be around and who could forget the days when we were young going to Carl and Theresa’s place for dinner then the next time to Edgar and Betty’s then through in a occasional ballgame.
