Kenneth Elmer Steege, age 84 of Fredericksburg, Iowa formerly of Scottsdale, AZ, died Monday, July 20, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Peace United Church of Christ, Fredericksburg with Reverand Burt Williams officiating. Yvonne Lienau will be the organist with Alissa Bieschke as vocalist. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with Brad Steege, Justin Steege, Andrew Forsman, Shawn Parrish, James Bieschke and Matthew Covey as casketbearers. Military honors will be conducted by the Fredericksburg AMVETS. Friends may call 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Kenneth Elmer Steege was born October 28, 1924, in Fredericksburg, the son of Elmer and Ida (Hagedorn) Steege. He received his education if Fredericksburg and graduated from the Fredericksburg High School in 1943. He entered the United State Navy Armed Guard, served during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. On July 9, 1946, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, he married Margaret Schulz. To this union three children were born. The couple later divorced. Kenneth worked at the Standard Station in Fredericksburg and then started Steege Auto Supply for many years. He also sold real estate for Loren Garnant for many years in Chickasaw County. After moving to Arizona he married Alice Funk and was married for 21 years. In Arizona, he worked in the real estate division for Chase-Manhattan Bank until retiring. Kenneth was very proud of his children and grandchildren following all their activities. Survivors include his wife, Alice; one daughter, Jan (Darrel) Forsman of Westfield, IN; two sons, Ken (Susan) Steege of West Union, Bruce Steege of Fredericksburg; seven grandchildren, Aimee Parrish, Carrie Forsman, Andrew Forsman, Alissa Bieschke, Kristine Steege, Kara Covey and Justin Steege; five great-grandchildren, Lauryn Parrish, Sydney Parrish, Marisa Bieschke, Wyatt Bieschke and Elias Bieschke; two sisters-in-law, Genevieve Steege and Arlene Steege, both of Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lloyd Steege and Gerald Steege.

  3. Sorry about your loss. I knew Kenny way back before I knew any of you. He use to come in to the Pinicon with Joe Mihm and a few other guys and they always had alot of fun. They use to talk about the what if’s, actually I think he is the last of the group.They had a good time and I guess that is what life is all about. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
