Kathryn V. Zwanziger, age 95 of Shell Rock, Iowa formerly of Plainfield, died Thursday February 25, 2010, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua, with Pastor James Mann of the Little Brown Church officiating. Interment will be in the Horton Cemetery with Marvin Munson, Roger Munson, Kurtis Munson, Jeremy Munson, Philip Munson and Kevin Zwanziger as pallbearers. Friends may call 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Kathryn was born August 8, 1914, in Ionia, Iowa the daughter of Tom and Pearl (Schields) Watters. On October 21, 1934, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Waverly, she married Edward E. Zwanziger. To this union two daughters were born; Phyllis Jean who died in 1935 at the age of three days and Eleanor. Kathryn and Edward farmed in Bremer County for 67 years together. She was a member of the Little Brown Church and active in the Women’s Fellowship. Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Munson of Waverly; three grandchildren, Marvin (Karen)) Munson of Waverly, Mary Hansen of Hampton and Roger Munson of Belmond; three great-grandsons, Kurtis (Claire) Munson of Shell Rock, Jeremy (Sherri) Munson, Philip Munson, all of Waverly; three great-great-granddaughters, Katelyn Jo Stein of TX, Emma Munson and Lauren Munson of Shell Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2001; her daughter, Phyllis Jean; son-in-law, Ralph Munson.

  3. I worked at the Bradford House in the kitchen and had the privelege of getting to know Kathryn and Ed. They always made everyone feel special and welcomed. We had many fun times and laughs together. My mother had always known them and I’m glad I had the chance to get to know them also. My thoughts and sympathy go out to you during this time.
