Juanita B. Goings age 86 of Nashua, Iowa died Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2013, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, with Pastor James Mann presiding. Betty Orric will be the organist. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua with John Goings, David Goings, Peter Goings, Tyler Goings, Samuel Goings and Dave Gerleman as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Juanita Burnett Goings was born June 19, 1927, in rural Chickasaw County, IA, the daughter of Fred and Nellie (Lovering) Jensen. She received her elementary education in country schools and was a 1944 graduate of the Nashua High School. She then attended Wartburg College in Waverly, and received a teaching certificate. She taught in the Jackson Country School and during an all-school reunion, met her future husband, Lewis Goings. On December 23, 1946, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua, she married Lewis Burdette Goings. To this union four children were born. Together the couple farmed their entire married lives in the Nashua area, having moved to their current location on Highway 346 in 1952. She was a active member of the Bradford Homemakers Club and the Pythian Sisters. Juanita was a hostess for thousands of weddings held at The Little Brown Church. Juanita is survived by her three sons, Richard (Barbara) Goings of Cedar Rapids, Ronald (Susan) Goings of Clifton Forge, VA and David Goings of Waterloo; one daughter, Lewine Goings-Boucher of Nashua; ten grandchildren, Julie (Eric) Perrot, John (Julie) Goings, Rachel (Jamie) Talbot, Joseph (Marin) Goings, Samuel Goings, Peter Goings, Kyle (Katie) Goings, Tyler (Amanda) Goings, Tilleen (Rick) Babcock and David Goings-Boucher; six great grandchildren; one sister, Mavis Madison of Tuscon, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.

To all of you, Memories of your mother….a year into serving at the Little Brown Church and a bat in the church….Juanita just grabbed a broom, gave a swing and swept it out the door and into the bushes outside…then looked at thewedding couple and said, ‘Now, when you walk slowly down the aisle, don’t forget to smile…’ she never missed a beat!   5. We had a lot a wonderful memories for weddings at the LITTLE BROWN CHURCH with Betty Orric and Nelda Shepard. Thoughts and prayers to the family. She was a wonderful person and will be missed, lots a memories with her at the LBC.
