On October 7, 1952, Joe was inducted into the United States Army. He served in Korea in the 40th Infantry Division as a Field Wireman in Communications. They also enjoyed camping and fishing. The couple delighted in visiting and traveling to see their many friends and relatives. Joe enjoyed Cribbage and loved to bowl, doing so throughout his life, until earlier this year when experiencing health concerns.

Mary and I want to express our sincere sympathy to the Koleno family and our friend Gen. I worked with Joe for 16 years at John Deere in department 11 A. He worked in tool and die and helped me out many times in the press department. Truly a wonderful man. Our car pool days were fun as well as our bus rides to Deere’s for over 14 years. May he rest in peace.

We’re going to miss you Uncle Joe. We wish peace and happiness to Alan and Pam and the rest of Joe’s family. God be with Genny as she journeys on until they are together again. Joe was a very kind heart and a lot of fun to be around. He could be serious and helpful yet a twinkle in his eye would appear and ‘naughty’ Joe would pop up. So many wonderful memories of Koleno family gatherings we have to hold on to. Tell my dad and Gramma HI from me and we’ll all be together again someday. Peace and Love to all of Joe’s family.
