Jordana Schumacher age 20, of Fredericksburg, IA, died Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg with Rev. Mike Christie officiating. Friends may greet the family from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, 29, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg. Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home and Crematorium in Fredericksburg have been entrusted with arrangements. Jordana was born on Oct. 5, 2002, in Waterloo. She was raised in Fredericksburg, where she received her education and was a member of the Class of 2021 at Sumner-Fredericksburg High School. After graduating high school, Jordana took a job at the Fredericksburg Food Center, where she always enjoyed checking out her customers, loved working with her co-workers, and liked doing deliveries. She met Alley Gerleman in Kindergarten and they became best friends. The Gerleman family welcomed her with open arms and treated her as one of their own. They even included her in their family group chats. Growing up with her cousin Rhiannon, the two were inseparable as they spent countless hours together on various activities or just talking. Jordana had many interests. She loved to watch movies, play Fortnite, and play all the Pokemon games on her Nintendo Switch. Jordana also loved to listen to music, being outdoors, and she loved animals. She was very active at the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, where she was on multiple church committees, she helped teach confirmation classes, and was involved in the Wednesday Night Kids Club. She had a heart of gold, she enjoyed helping Donna Schildroth with her yard work, and helping others with their pets. Jordana was friendly to everyone, and she was always asking everyone, "How was your day?" And she wasn't just saying it, she meant it. She always listened to the answers and took an interest in everyone. Jordana will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her, but they also know, as one Fredericksburg couple put it, "this world has lost an amazing, sweet, kind, and beautiful soul, we know you are spreading joy and laughter where you are now." She is survived by her parents, Patrick and April Schumacher, of Fredericksburg; her grandparents, Dale and Christy Schumacher of Fredericksburg, and Vernon and Phyllis Bucklin of Aplington; her aunt, Melissa Schumacher of Fredericksburg; her cousins, Rhiannon (Anthony Melhorn) Stough and Elyse Melhorn, Korbin Stough and Mason Cordes of Fredericksburg; and many great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and special friend Andrew Rahlf.

Theirs too many memories we’ve had together, you saw something in me that not even i couldn’t see, through thick and thin you were there when i myself tried, but i couldn’t see what all you were holding back.   39. Jordana was one of my oldest friends hearing about her death was world shattering. Honestly I didn’t believe it at first someone barely a year younger than me just gone. I am so sorry to her family and to her other friends there’s not much you can say or really do. We’ll just have to cherish the memories that we have of her, after all, someone never truly dies until they have been forgotten by all that care about them.

  41. I first met Jordana when she came to work at the grocery store and it was a pleasure to work with her.She was a wonderful,shy,quiet type of person. I am going to miss her saying Have a Nice Day as she was punching out to go home.

  60. Jordana was a sweet, gentle, and quietly dependable person. I loved having her as a student in my class and as a member of the props crew for the MS musicals. She always went out of her way to be polite and kind. My thoughts and prayers to her family and friends. What an immeasurable loss.

  64. Jordana was a guaranteed game changer for me every time I was feeling grumpy at school. Her smiling eyes brightened any dark day and reminded me that it was a choice to be happy. How saddened I was to hear that her light has gone out. I pray for her family, her parents, her friends. It is an unimaginable heartache to say goodbye to a child who has been taken too soon. I know Jordana had love for Jesus in her heart, so I in faith I believe it carried her home to our Father when she passed from this world into the next. I pray you can all find glimpses of light–just as Jordana always seemed to–in this season of grieving and desperate sorrow.
