John Joseph Langreck, age 44 of New Hampton, formerly of Lawler died Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2009, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler with Rev. David Beckman celebrating the Mass. The pall will be placed on the casket by his brothers and sisters. The offertory gifts will be presented by his four nieces, Sarah Feickert, Roxy Smith, Cathy Sabelka and Cindy Ott. Lector for the service will be Vic De Sloover.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Lawler, with Tim Langreck, Mike Langreck, Alan Gnade, Chris Carolan, Jim Mitchell and Jordan Mitchell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Langreck, Nick Langreck, Keith Langreck, Kevin Langreck, Luke Langreck, Lance Langreck Craig Mitchell, and the staff of Comprehensive Systems.
Friends may call 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler, where there will be a 7:00 p.m. scripture service. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at church on Monday.
John Joseph Langreck was born August 10, 1965, in New Hampton, Iowa, the son of Francis and Katherine (De Sloover) Langreck. He attended school at the Antes Center in West Union until his graduation. John lived and worked with his family on their Lawler farm, until 1996, when he became a resident at Comprehensive Systems. John worked with Comprehensive Systems at the Treasure Chest in New Hampton. He competed in several Special Olympics and competed nationally at the meet held in New York. John enjoyed Johnny Cash music, riding bike, playing basketball, The Three Stooges and bowling.
Survivors include two brothers, Richard (Honor) Langreck and Joe (Tina) Langreck, all of Lawler; four sisters, Eileen (Tom) Carolan of Waucoma, Kathleen (Paul) Gnade of Ft. Atkinson, Shirley Smith of Calmar and Doris Mitchell of Lawler; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Paul Smith.
My condolences on your loss. May the love and support of your friends and families be your comfort during this difficult time. Our families have had much loss in the last few years but there is comfort in knowing we will all be together again one day.
