Joaquin Ann Jones was born on May 16, 1960 to Charles Edward and Marlys Mae (Wilde) Jones and both baptized and confirmed at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She grew up in rural Nashua on the family farm, in the house that her father built, helping with milking and feeding chores and the truck garden and sweetcorn sales. Her first official job was office work at the Nashua Reporter. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1978 and studied to be a business education teacher at Upper lowa University in Fayette. After completing her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1982, she graduated from the University of lowa Law School in 1985. Joaquin worked as an Instructor in the Paralegal program at the Business Institute of Technology in Cedar Falls before accepting a position as Assistant County Attorney for the Cerro Gordo County Child Support Recovery Unit in 1986. She held this position for 36 years, retiring in 2022.
Joaquin was a member of Praise Community Church since 2003 and over the years had been active on the outreach and congregational care team, worship team, church directories, and organizing activities. She was known for her service to her church family.
Joaquin enjoyed travelling and preparing itineraries for her travels with friends. She usually visited a place once but she made repeat visits to Amana Colonies, Branson MO and Gays Mills Wisconsin. She found the most impressive sights were the giant redwoods of northern California and the Niagara Falls. In addition to travel, she enjoyed genealogy research of family history, reading mystery books, sudoku and other puzzles and board games and watching TV baking contests and the color purple. She enjoyed giving baked treats for Christmas (especially cashew caramel bars).
She is survived by her sisters Janie (Brian) Jones-Remsburg (Fort Dodge) and Julie (Rory) Winters (Nashua), four nephews: Brett (Bobbie Jo) Dahl (Rockwell) Tyler Dahl (Sheffield), Jordan Jones-Smeby (Rockwell) and Collin Jones-Smeby (Rockwell), grand-nieces Ellie Dahl and Alexa Dahl, grand-nephew Brenson Dahl, aunts Sandy Wilde (Osage) and aunt Mariedna Wilde (Osage), step-mother Rachel Jones, cousins Deb Sjolsvold, Jeff Titus, Peggy Henning, Kevin Wilde, and stepbrothers Don (Pam) Winchester and their children: Emily, Bethany, Donald and Addy, Chuck and son Stormy and Dean Winchester.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1981, her father in 2021, grandparents Jesse and Bernice (Plantz) Jones, Arnold and Erma (Schmidt) Wilde and step-grandmother Ruth Wilde, Aunt and uncle Alice (Jones) and Jack Titus, uncle Allen Wilde, uncle Richard Wilde, and cousins Brian and Barry Wilde.
