Born on March 28, 1933, in Nashua, Iowa, to Frank and Helen (Springer) Brown. Janet's life was one marked by devotion to her family, a passion for socializing, and an unwavering love for life's simple pleasures.
Janet graduated from Nashua High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundations for her future role as a cherished community member. Her journey as a homemaker was one she embarked upon with pride and joy, dedicating her life to creating a warm and loving home for her husband, Jim Nelson, and their children, Erik, Barry, and Deb Marth.
Her commitment to family was the cornerstone of her existence. She relished in the joys of being a wife, mother, and grandmother, infusing every moment with kindness and an open heart. Janet's presence was a comforting constant, her love a guiding force for her family.
Beyond her family, Janet was an active and beloved figure in her community. She was an original founder of the Nashua Country Club, where her attempts at golf were often as filled with laughter as they were with the spirit of competition. Janet's love for social activities extended to her daily coffee sessions with the girls, a testament to her ability to nurture and maintain lasting friendships.
Winter seasons found Janet soaking up the sun in Florida, where she and Jim enjoyed 18 winters together. This time was cherished by Janet, as it allowed her the luxury of napping under the warm sun, shopping, and continuing her social escapades in a new setting.
Janet's interests were as varied as they were rich. She never missed an opportunity to delve into the latest James Patterson novel, finding solace and adventure within the pages. A dog lover through and through, her fondness for her canine companions, especially Mocha, was well known and added to the warmth of her household.
Her younger years were filled with the simple pleasure of a good walk, an activity that reflected her appreciation for nature and the world around her. Janet's sense of style was impeccable, earning her a reputation for being 'classy' in every sense of the word. She believed in presenting herself at her best, not just in appearance but in spirit.
Those who knew Janet will remember her as a loving, friendly, and kind soul who brought light into every room she entered. Her legacy will live on not only through her family but also in the countless lives she touched with her generous spirit and infectious laughter.
Janet's journey through life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, and while she will be dearly missed, the memories she created will forever be treasured by her loved ones and friends.
