Jane F. Harrington age 78 of Nashua, Iowa died Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Nashua, with Msgr. John Hemann celebrating the Mass. The pall will be placed by Jane's children. Chris Cleveland will be the organist and the vocalist for the service and Kendra Gilbert will be the lector. Presenting the offertory gifts will be Jane's four daughters. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Nashua with Cole Smith, Dustin Harrington, Jeremy Harrington, Lindsay Reams, Jason White, Zachary Mueller and James Wingert as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua where there will be a 3:00 p.m. rosary. Visitation continues from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Jane Frances Harrington was born October 6, 1936, in Lindsay, NE, the daughter of Joseph and Ruby (Rood) Hau. At an early age, the Hau family moved to Waterloo, Iowa where she attended Our Lady of Victory Academy and in 1949, the family moved to Ionia where she finished her education at St. Boniface Schools graduating in 1954. During her youth, Jane was an avid softball player and loved the short-stop position. On May 7, 1956, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, she married James Harrington. To this union seven children were born. Together, the couple farmed east of Nashua where they raised their family. In 1989 Jane and James moved into Nashua. Shortly thereafter on November 21, 1990, James died at the age of 58. The couple enjoyed fishing together every year making many trips ‘up-north’. Jane devoted her life to her family and serving others and was an active volunteer at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She was the heart-and-soul of her family and was cherished by all who knew her. Her faith, strength and courage will live on in her loved ones. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include seven children, Diane (Kevin) Smith of Plainfield, James Harrington of Nashua, Charles (Susan) Harrington of Ionia, Janet (Greg) White of Nashua, Ann (Mitch) Mueller of Plainfield, Dan Harrington of Nashua, Aimee (Marc) Wingert of Dike; twenty grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Rowe of Nashua, Ruth Garland of UT, Dorothy (Myron) Sinnwell of NJ, Kathy (Robert) Harrington of Nashua. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, George Hau and Robert Hau.

  4. Our hearts truly ache for the loss of this wonderful person & friend…such a loss not only to her family but to St. Michael’s Parish where she was instrumental in helping in so many, many ways. Her famous potato salad recipe is the delicious one used at the Fair Stand for the Big 4 Fair here in Nashua & she has literally helped prepare ‘tons’ of it over the years. She always helped whenever & wherever she could & always with a smile. We know that this gracious Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister & Friend is now at peace in the loving arms of her Savior & with others who have preceded in meeting their eternal reward.
