Jane Crooks age 89 of Nashua, IA, died Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Mayberry Gardens Assisted Living in Denton, TX.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua with Rev. John Tunnicliff presiding. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Jane Evelyn Crooks was born December 2, 1927, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Chris and Grace (Wright) Sorensen. She received her education in the Spencer, IA, schools graduating from the Spencer High School in 1946. She then attended teachers college receiving a teacher’s certificate. On July 20, 1952, she married Merle Francis Crooks and to this union two sons were born. After raising her sons, she attended Wartburg College in Waverly receiving a degree in Elementary Education. Jane taught in the Nashua Elementary School for many years. In her free time she enjoyed playing the piano, teaching Sunday School, traveling and sightseeing around the United States with her husband, Merle.
Survivors include two sons, Paul (Annette) Crooks of Aubrey, TX, John (Colleen) Crooks of Chillicothe, OH; four grandchildren, Alison Crooks of Aubrey, TX, Carolyn (Philip) Schwab of Aubrey, TX, Sean Crooks of Apache Junction, AZ, Kevin Crooks of Philadelphia, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Merle on January 23, 2011.

Merle & Jane came to our home many times for Holiday Dinners. After Merle passed Jane continued coming until she went to Fredericksburg. My entire family Loved her very much!! She was such a fun & loving little lady. We had Sooo Many Great times together!!My prayers are with each one of her family!! God Bless You All !!!
