Jacob Sievers

Jacob Kenneth Sievers, age 18 of Plainfield, IA, died Saturday, November 19, 2022, near Hampton, IA. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Interment will be held at Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield with Jon Whiteside, Josh Knutson, Dakota, Wilkens, Bailey Sievers, John Soldwisch, and Robert Whiteside serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2022, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Jake was welcomed into the world on May 28, 2004, by his parents, Joe and Jamie Sievers at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo. He was blessed to have the best big sister, Bailey, and it was love at first sight when she met her brother for the first time. He was baptized at the Siegel Church in rural Plainfield and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Nashua. As a young child, Jake was laid-back and always doing his thing. His parents joked that they had to remember to check up on him because he was always so good at entertaining himself. And, of course, he had Bailey looking after him, too! Jake attended school at Nashua-Plainfield and graduated with the Class of 2022. After graduation, he went to work as a laborer and apprentice at Young Plumbing and Heating, where both his dad and sister worked. Jake had a smile that lit up a room, and he'll always be remembered as a fun-loving kid who loved to clown around and be a goofball with his friends. His smile, so many people will tell you, was infectious and contagious. He started playing football in YSF as a third-grader and loved the game and being with his teammates. He also enjoyed basketball and was always shooting hoops at both his mom's and his dad's. The Husky coaches talked him into going out for track one year, and he made it all the way to the state meet. Jake also enjoyed kayaking, going to Buffalo Wild Wings (always getting wings on the hot side!), listening to podcasts and watching documentaries. He was looking forward to getting back into fishing now that his dad had a place on the river. Anyone who knew him will tell you that Jake was neat, clean and organized. He'd give his buddies grief when they'd spend the night and leave his room a mess, and there was always a place for the brush, the cologne and everything else in his room! He loved his dogs - Molly and Tia at mom's and Squirt at dad's - and before he left for work each morning, he'd make sure they had the TV on to keep them company. Jake was always so respectful and helpful to his parents. Jamie will miss her son saying, "Mom, let me do that" when she was trying to lift something heavy or reach something on the top shelf and Joe will miss going to work with him. He touched a lot of lives in his short time here, and we're all going to miss him dearly. Jake is survived by his mother, Jamie (Stacy) Wilkens of Nashua, father, Joe Sievers of Plainfield; his sister, Bailey Sievers of Nashua; his grandparents, Glenn and Diane Whiteside of Clarksville, and Ron Stevens of Shell Rock; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and the friends he treasured so much. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ron Sievers, and his grandmother, Pam Stevens.
