Irma Mae Lusson age 71 of St. Lucas died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, St. Lucas with Rev. David Beckman celebrating the Mass. The pall will be placed on the casket by her husband and two sons. The offertory gifts will be presented by Taylor Bushman and Tonya Winter.
Interment will be in the church cemetery with Kyle Miller, Greg Balk, Roger Paulus, Lucas Winter, Bruce Miller and Dean Miller serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at St. Luke’s Church, where there will be a 4:00 p.m. rosary and a 6:00 p.m. scripture service. Visitation continues one hour prior to the Mass at church on Thursday.
Irma Mae Lusson was born January 28, 1939, in New Hampton, IA the daughter of John William and Agnes Magdalene (Croatt) O’Donnell. She received her education at St. Williams Catholic Grade School and High School in Alta Vista. After graduating, she worked as a nurses aide at the hospital in New Hampton.
On May 5, 1959, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Alta Vista, she married William Lusson of St. Lucas. To this union three children were born. Irma worked side-by-side with her husband Bill farming. While raising her children, she also worked at the hospital in West Union for many years.
In her free time she enjoyed skiing, bike riding, and collecting antique dishes and dolls. Irma loved making quilts and giving them to her children. Membership’s include St. Luke’s Catholic Church and Rosary Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, William; two sons, Dave Lusson of Iowa City and Duane Lusson of Ottumwa; one daughter, Dianne (Rick) Bushman of Seneca, IL; three grandchildren, Lucas Winter, Tonya Winter and Taylor Bushman; three sisters, Mary O’Donnell of St. Cloud, MN, Florence Reicks of Alta Vista, IA and Margaret Randak of Lourdes, IA; one brother, Jim (Charlotte) O’Donnell of Alta Vista; one sister-in-law, Jeanette (Dennis) Miller, Ossian.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Catherine Dietrich and two brothers-in-law, Cyril Reicks and Bob Randak.
I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom…she was really a wonderful woman, and was always so kind. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Duane – Please accept my sympathy over the passing of your mother. Brent told me yesterday evening at the high school baseball game. I hope it is alright that I informed Jenny and Lanie. We wanted to come last evening for the vigil service but Deacon was scheduled to do a ‘renewal of vows’ for a couple and today we could not come to the funeral because Mary, our daughter, had surgery and we had to be there as her drivers and care for her daughter. I’m sorry to lose my dear sister who loved the land and her gardening, and lots more. She and Billy have 3 fine children, Diane, David and Duane. God bless Irma and Billy and all of us.
