Irene E. Snyder, age 99 of New Hampton, IA died on Friday, October 2, 2009 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center in New Hampton , IA. Irene Elizabeth was born in Hartley, IA on December 6, 1909 to William and Jenny (Dunn) Smith. She was a 1928 graduate from New Hampton High School. She then taught in a rural school. On August 21, 1929 Irene was united in marriage to John Jack Snyder. Following their marriage they farmed the family farm of his parents, west of New Hampton. After retiring and moving in to town she was a co-owner of the Mode ODay Dress Shop for several years and later worked with the New Hampton School lunch program. Irene was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, gardening, and most of all playing cards, being a member of several Bridge and 500 card clubs. She also enjoyed traveling. Irene is survived by two daughters Jane (Bob) Manges, and Sandra (Don) Schueth both of New Hampton; five grandchildren Steve (Deb) Manges of Waterloo, IA, Doug Schueth of New Hampton, Jackie (Chris) Perkins of New Hampton, Lon (Mickey) Schueth of Cottage Grove, MN and Jodee (Lowell) Young of Ackley, IA; eight great-grandchildren Troy (Harat) Manges, Tonya (Brandon) Aukes, Ryan (Leann) Perkins, Tara Perkins and fianc Bob Shekleton, Christina Schueth, D.J. Schueth, Cassie Young, and Michael Young; three great-great-grandchildren Dillon, Austin, and Jaryd Johnson, one sister Hazel Drewelow of New Hampton, and several nieces and nephews. Cemetery: Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery with Steve Manges, Doug Schueth, Lon Schueth, Chris Perkins, Lowell Young, and Troy Manges serving as casket bearers. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the East Gathering Center of the church. Service: Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at United Methodist Church, in New Hampton, IA with Reverend Todd Holman officiating.

  9. My sympathy to Sandra and Jane. Your mother was such a special lady. I remember my days in New Hampton when I worked at the Schueth Ace Hardware and remember the Mode O Day store and what a special lady Irene was. Those were the days. So very sorry for your loss
