To all of Hoops family, I will always remember my last visit with your dadgrandpa. Although he never wanted to take any credit for it, he was so instrumental in many of our lives growing up in Ionia. His passion for fast-pitch softball affected so many of us in a very positive way. My last visit with him was just a few weeks ago. We had quite a few laughs. He was successful in every thing that he did. He will be greatly missed. I am so proud to have known him! God bless you all!

We lived next door to Francis and Hoop for many years, they were delightful nieghbors, We enjoyed spending hours at their house, which was always open to family and friends. Their kindness to our family was greatly appreciated. We were able to visit with Hoop a short time ago and he still had his sense of humor. You have so many wonderful memories of your Dad, he had a zest for life, and enjoyed it to the fullest. May God bless all of you and help you through this very difficult time.l

Our sympathy to Hoops family – from Linda Schmickle and mom Anna Zeien. Mom was just reminiscing the other day about some of the furnace, plumbing, and other jobs Hoop had done for them. They had been friends for many, many years. I guess what I remember most from when I was younger is that I didnt know anybody else called “Hoop”. 🙂
To Hoop’s family, we are sorry for your loss. He was an Ionia legend will be missed. You are in our thought prayers.

Sorry to hear about Hoop passing away. we didnt get to know him real well. He immediately impressed us as being an easy going, positive, fun loving type of person. You could tell he liked being around people. Different people we met a few different times from the area always described him as a “character”. Being remembered as a character is a very good way to be remembered. Our sympathy is extended to the sons and daughters and Sally.
To the Hoop Burgart Family, May our loving Lord surround you with His love and comfort during the days ahead. Losing a parent leaves a void in our lives; use the memories to spread comfort now and his legacy for his decedents. God bless, Orlin and Jan Rasing Herfindal
