Helen E. Adams age 93, of New Hampton died Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Washington with Rev. Mark Osterhaus celebrating the Mass. The Immaculate Conception Men's Choir will provide the music for the service accompanied by Ann Bennett as organist. Lector for the service will be Dave Jacobsen. Presenting the offertory gifts will be her four daughters, Jean Laures, Joan Jacobsen, Patricia Wilcox and Diane Baethke. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Washington with Jack Seelhammer, Steve Seelhammer, Rick Seelhammer, Perry Laures, Mitch Laures, Dan Kerr, Brad Kerr, Todd Kerr and Lee Baethke serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Deb Mohring, Cindy Kotz, Wendy VanderEcken, Linda Steven, Brenda Bartz, Lisa Lewis, Tracy Dahl, Sonya Maerschalk, Wanita Kilcollins, Ginny Pascual, Dawn Lubbert and Jill Baethke. Friends may greet the family 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Helen Elizabeth Adams was born July 20, 1921, in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Clarence H. and Hattie May (Conley) Taylor. She graduated from high school in Denver, CO. On August 17, 1942, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Washington, she was united in marriage to Harold Henry Adams. Helen worked for various businesses in the New Hampton area. She loved playing cards, sewing and BINGO. She especially loved time with her ever-growing family and friends. Survivors include four daughters, Jean (Vern) Laures of New Hampton, Joan (Dave) Jacobsen of Fredericksburg, Patricia Wilcox of New Hampton, Diane (Dave) Bathke of Elma; daughter-in-law, Ella Mae Adams of New Hampton; son-in-law, Joe CaPaul of Waunakee, WI; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on February 19, 1980; a son, Bill Adams; a daughter, Harriet Seelhammer CaPaul; sons-in-law, Bob Seelhammer. Larry Wilcox; two great-grandchildren, Evan Laures and Taylor Dahl.

  2. My sympathy and prayers go out to all of the Adams family. I missed her today when I took communion to the nursing home. Helen was such a kind and helpful person with a beautiful smile. She always made sure I didn’t miss giving communion to anyone.

  3. My grandma had the perfect combination of love and attitude. Her spunk kept us all on our toes and her kind heart made us all feel loved. Her life was full of ups and downs just like everyone else, but she approached every day with faith and awareness. So many memories of lasagna, cookies, sleepovers, trips to Charles City, playing cards, sticks of gum and hugs and kisses fill my heart with joy.   5. Helen was my mother’s first friend when Mom moved to Kensington from Arkansas. Helen was one of the warmest people I have ever known and I looked forward to seeing her when I visited Mom. A little light just went out, but those who knew her can still sense the glow. My sympathies to her family and friends. Donna Becker
