  1. Oh My Dear ‘Cookie’ as I called you, what a beautiful lady, inside and out. I just recently heard of your passing from a former Pinicon co-worker. I was 16 yrs. old when I was hired @ the Pinicon to work for Ed & Luella.I am 51 now. I started by helping my Mom, Dorothy in the Salad Dept, on 2nd shift. Helen & Leona were the 2 night cooks. Somehow, I was encouraged to train to cook. OMG, I was a Daddy’s Girl Tomboy, I didn’t cook. The 2 Gals, patiently & directly started training me and by God, I learned fast and was a good cook, with great timing. I inherited that from my Grandma Anna Vorwald. When Cookie and I worked, I did the grill/steak end and Cookie did the Fry end. Sometimes we’d get just swamped, people heard we were Fabulous cooks, good looking & modest too, Ha Ha! I’d tell her, it’ll be ok Cookie, we’ll take one at a time and go down the line, stay calm. She’d take a breath & say,’Alright Debra, as she always called me. We’d get the orders out, I’d smile and wink at her, she’d smile that sweet, beautiful smile back at me. I’d keep her calm, we’d be sweating bullets, hairnets, uniforms, aprons and all. I’d tell her what she needed to get out & ready, get her chicken in the fryer, we made a Fabulous team. We’d have large weddings and have to cut chickens up…Yikes. She was a wonderful cook at home as well. We helped her wallpaper and got a delicious roast beef dinner, great company too. She loved her Paul, sons, daughter and cherished all those Granbabies, the farm and her faith & marriage. After a busy night, Ed would buy us a drink & Cookie would have a Tom Collins and get giggly. Paul would have a 7/7, I believe. We exchanged Christmas cards, her family newsletters every year. I Loved the Stirms, Cookie & Paul, all the fond memories I will cherish. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I lost my Daddy 8/2012 & My Mommy3/2013, so I know the loss & sadness. God Bless. Deb(Debra), Vorwald/Morrison
