Harvey Emil Hennings age 84 of Fredericksburg died Friday, December 3, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2010, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg with Pastor Ronnie Koch officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Fredericksburg AMVETS Post #90. Pallbearers will be Robert Fox, Andy Meyer, Adam Attleson, Bobby Hennings, Myron Koester and Kory Attleson. Honorary pallbearer will be Dale Schwerin. Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church. Harvey Emil Hennings was born June 15, 1926, in Bremer, IA, the son of Henry C. and Emilia (Hagenow) Hennings. He was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bremer. Harvey received his education in rural country schools. Harvey was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Germany during WWII receiving an honorable discharge. On May 20, 1948, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Readlyn he married Laurena Everding. To this union seven children were born. The couple lived in Waverly and Waterloo before making their home in Fredericksburg in 1958. Harvey worked at Meinerz Creamery, Fredericksburg, from 1960 until age of 62 and retiring in 1988 . Laurena died on March 3, 2003 at the age of 79. In his free time he loved watching the Chicago Cubs and never missed a game. He also enjoyed the RFD Channel on TV as well as playing Schafkopf. Survivors include two sons; Robert (Glenda) Hennings of Sumner, Jim Hennings of Fredericksburg; three daughters; Sharon (Dennis) Miller of Tripoli, Phyllis Hurd, Kandi (John) Attleson, all of Fredericksburg; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother; Henry Hennings of Tripoli; one sister, Nora Rathe of Chesterfield, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons, Roger Hennings at 18 months of age, Dennis Hennings in 2005; a grandson, Michael Robert Hennings; three brothers, Elmer, Art and Ed Hennings; five sisters, Esther Pries, Mildred Schwerin, Helen Wente, Elda and Erna Hennings in infancy.

As our parents get older, you just never know when the Lord is going to call their name, but you have all the wonderful memories to hold on too—- take comfort in that.
