Harold King, age 62 of Fredericksburg, Iowa died Wednesday April 11, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, Hillcrest Baptist & Brethren Church in Fredericksburg with Rev. Scott Smith presiding. Friends may greet the family 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Harold Thomas King was born October 27, 1955, in New Hampton, IA, the son of Donald and Bertha (Moellers) King. He attended New Hampton high school and was a 1974 graduate. Harry continued his education at NICC in Calmar earning a degree in Tractor Mechanics. After school he began working at Meinerz Creamery in Fredericksburg in June of 1974. Harry spent the next 27 years working for the company as it changed from Meinerz to Beatrice Cheese, and finally Con-Agra until the company closed. He then worked at Winnebago for three years, and worked the last 12 years at Kerry Foods in Fredericksburg. Harry was introduced to Janet Holst and the couple were married, and to this union two children were born. The couple later divorced. Harry met Mary Smith through a mutual friend at work, and the couple were married May 2, 1996, at the Hillcrest Baptist & Brethren Church in Fredericksburg. The couple raised five children together. Harry enjoyed using his John Deere lawn tractor and had a lawn care business he operated. He liked to do woodworking, tinker with things, and a cold Busch Light. Family was the most important thing in his life and he relished spending as much time together as possible. Harry is survived by his wife, Mary King of Fredericksburg, IA; three sons, Ryan (Lisa Lopez) King of Fredericksburg, IA, Jeremy (Jessica) King of Audubon, IA, Chad Smith of Fredericksburg, IA; three daughters, Kelly Westendorf of Fredericksburg, IA, Kerry King of Fredericksburg, IA, Trisha Smith of Nora Springs, IA; ten grandchildren and 2 grand dogs; four brothers, David of Traer, IA, Ronald (Deanna) of Loves Park, IL, Daryl King of Columbus Junction, IA, Michael (Lisa) of Oskaloosa, IA; five sisters, Diane (Craig) of Osage, IA, Debbie (Bernie) of Montana, Paula (Larry) of Portsmouth, VA, Donna Mae (Trac) of Anchorage, AK, Lori of Osage, IA; brother-in- law and sister-in- laws Howard and Margaret Campbell, Tom and Donna Smith, Jack Smith and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald T. King; dog, Oreo. Per Harry's wishes the family recommends casual attire when attending.

Have know Harry many many years infact was in Auto Mechanics class together in High School we did class project together that consisted of taking a car engine apart i had no problem with that. but when the teacher said now put it back together and have it running i looked at Harry and said hope u can do that because i cant…well less just say he is why i passed Auto Mechanics that year!!! R.I.P. my friend!

  11. Harry will be missed by all that knew him. We have many memories of him driving his lawn mower down to our car wash just to shoot the breeze. He was a great father, husband, and friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mary, Ryan, Jeremy, Chad,,Kelly, Kari, and grandkids
