Guestbook

  1. Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services created a video in memory of Gregory John Budweg

  2. As tomorrow is Veterans Day, it is very fitting to honor Greg and all the Budweg family members, as they have been vitally important and extremely active in serving our country! Thank you!

  3. Greg was a childhood friend. I spent many days at his house as well he at mine. Take care my friend and smile down on us! Gary Reicks

  4. I worked with Greg at MSP airport at LSG skychef. Greg taught me very useful skills to be a better leader. He was a fine naval officer, a gentleman and a leader of men, Simply put, he was very fit for command. His dedication to integrity, duty and development of the men in his command are a credit to himself and everyone he touched. My heart is saddened that this fine man was taken from this world before his time. SEmper fi.

  5. I remember Greg as a very good student when I was privileged to teach him at the St. Paul VA Regional Office a few years ago. He had a great sense of humor and made me laugh often. I shall miss him. RIP, Greg!

  6. I am so sad to learn of the passing of my cousin Greg. I viewed him as his family’s patriarch whom I would go to for an update on his siblings and his immediate family, plus he usually knew what was going on with our shared cousins. We loved comparing our memories of Grandpa and Grandma Budweg, and due to the difference in our ages (I used to babysit him), memories were also different. He was always very attentive to his aunts and uncles and interested in the family history–collecting newspaper clippings and photos. I’d say he was pretty much our family historian, and he also made a big effort to ensure the veterans in our families were recognized. We will all miss him a lot. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Judy Budweg Gruenberg

  7. Working with Greg at the St. Paul RO was such a great privilege. As first my peer and then manager he made work fun. He always gave such thought consideration to his employees and especially Veterans. I could go to him with any question or concern and if he didn’t have the answer, he would make sure I got the right one. He was an amazing leader who always made sure to let you know when you were doing great work, you were supported by him, and he cared for you as a person. I so appreciated him. This is such a great loss and he will truly be missed. ~Stephanie

  8. Uncle Greg was the BEST! Such a breath of fresh air to be around. I will forever be SumBa instead of Summer and for that I’m forever grateful. I remember going over his house with Nick in Minnesota feeling absolute bliss because I always knew we’d leave cracking up because Greg was quite the jokester. So glad to know he’s in a place without suffering. Our family has one heck of an angel now 🙂 Keep your head up family, because a spirit like Uncle Greg’s will NEVER die. He will always have your back, like he always had. Peace love and light :kissing_heart:

  9. Greg ‘Bud’ was our oldest child’s godfather. He and my husband Mark have a long history of being best friends in college. Many many memories!! In fact he introduced us over 40 years ago. The stories my husband could tell are many. He will be missed. We cannot make the funeral, but we are thinking of you all very much. Kathleen and Mark Goulson

  10. I am shocked an saddened by this loss of a good man far too soon. We worked together for many years. Before he moved to Iowa he educated me on the many great types of tomatoes and provided me with many of them for a few years. He was thoughtful, considerate and professional. Over several hundred conversations concerning Agent Orange exposure, veterans were always at the very front of his thoughts and he always evaluated them with care and compassion. I will miss him greatly. Fair winds and following seas my friend. Bill Panknin

  11. St. Paul RO Rating Board purchased the Basket Full of Wishes for the family of Gregory John Budweg.

  14. Blessings and prayers to Greg’s family and loved ones. I enjoyed getting to know Greg for almost a year when we worked together in Des Moines. During this time I saw that Greg was caring, compassionate and very conscientious. He cared about his family, co-workers and the Veterans he served. His compassion was full-hearted. I enjoyed seeing him relax and hearing his deep resonant laugh. He was very conscientious in his duties. His intent was to do the right thing and leave things better than he found them. He was a person I had hoped to get to know better. He moved on as we do in the military, and I for one missed him. I really like that picture of him as a young sailor. May God bless and comfort you at this time. Until we meet again my friend.

  15. I had the opportunity to work with Greg for a while in Des Moines. I enjoyed our conversations about the military, life in the country, and deer hunting. 20. To the Budweg family: I worked with Greg- he was my favorite manager of all time. He was an honest, tell it like it is person, which is truly a hard quality to find. He rose above the red tape and politics and took the time to actually care about the people he worked with and know them as individual human beings; he remembered things that were important to me, took the time to ask questions, know what was going on in my life outside of work, and he took the time to pay individual compliments, letting you know that what you were doing was noticed and that it mattered. He was a true teacher and role model. It was such a privilege to know him. I’m deeply sorry for your loss. – Jamie

  21. May the memories of Gregory fill your hearts. All our thoughts and prayers to the Budweg family. Clark was a classmate of mine. David and Jeanne(Geerts) Roder

  22. Sending prayers to the family. I’ve had the honor to work with Greg for 10 years. His commitment to his subordinates was unmatched. His dedication to serving veterans was strong. His sense of humor will be sorely missed. Greg was a very caring soul and I will miss him very much.

  23. Greg was much more than a co-worker, he was my friend. He had a great sense of humor and he was always able to lighten the mood at work. We all looked forward to what analogy he was going to come up with during our morning management meetings (usually farm related). His mystery lunches were a whole other subject. We often bragged about our grandkids to each other and there was no doubt how much he loved his kids and his grandkids. I already miss you so much!

  24. I was very saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and coworker Greg. At work here we shared our eccentric taste for foods and many stories of hunting the woods. One morning I came into work to find a napkin on my desk with a treat in it. Knowing it must have come from Greg I ate it, no worries. He found me later and said how was the tongue I left for you at your desk this morning. I thought to myself, it was good until you just told me what it was! What a good man that will be missed here at work by myself and by many more. Budweg family you are in my thoughts during this difficult time.

  25. Laura and family. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. America is grateful for his service. Max Sporer

  26. To the Budweg family you have my condolences. So sorry for you loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

  27. Remembering an oldest brother who was loved and revered by his younger siblings. I remember going to your home and talking with Greg. He was always so kind and cared very much for his family. Michelle Wegman Bruty

  28. God bless you Greg and your whole family. Many wonderful memories of our Budweg cousins. Love and prayers, Erika (Felder) Troyna
