Grace lived a few years in Iowa City and later met and married Loren “Smokey” McNeal. He died in 2011. Baking kolaches and rolickies were a favorite pastime for Grace.

Samantha, I want to thank you for your kind thoughts and I miss seeing you and your other siblings. Ty and I are back to living in Tulsa and would love to know how to contact you. My email address: pattidrago@yahoo.com
Grace was a very loving and special lady. If I had to borrow some kolache filling, she always had it on hand and she gave the last of her flour so as not to waste it. She will be missed very much. Dan and Joan Lentz
Grace was a beautiful, caring lady, that loved to visit. She brightened everyone’s day with her smile. If you wanted to know anything about sports, or life in general Grace could fill you in. We treasured many great times with Grace at the Cresco Care Center over the past two years. I know that Irene her close friend and confidant for many years will miss Grace dearly. May she rest in peace. Forever in our hearts…
When our family farmhouse (Amby and Irene O’Brien) incurred a fire when we were growing up, I remember Grace volunteered to take some of my sisters and I to her house. My sisters and I were scared about the fire and Grace kept us busy opening her old purses where we found sandwich cookies and peanuts; she kept our mind off the fire with such a cleaver activity; she made a difficult time so much easier and also helped my parents out through this. I also remember seeing her working with my mom at the Cresco Meal Site for several years where they retired about the same time. And I have very fond memories of Grace at Cresco Care – especially when I got to be her guide when Cresco Care went to Waterloo to the Casino – Grace, my mom, my sister Sheila, and I had lunch together and a lovely afternoon. And her many games of 500 with my mom, Irene. She always loved listening to Ave Maria and I am glad she is experiencing it in Heaven in full Glory. Grace was full of grace to those she encountered. My sympathies, Eileen O’Brien Denner
To Al and your entire family, I am deeply saddened to hear of this news. Aunt Grace was a very special person in my life, always such a big smile whenever I visit friends and relatives in Iowa. I love Aunt Grace and will always treasure the childhood memories, especially sharing family celebrations at Grandma and Grandpa Komarek’s house. I will always remember the special rosette cookies she always made at Christmas time, absolutely one of the best things I can remember about my childhood. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Much love to your family from ours. Samantha
May the Lord bless Mrs. Grace (Komarek) McNeal. You are now in the Heaven to pray for us. My sisters, brothers keep you and your family members in our prayers. I especially think about you on this coming Wednesday, on the funeral mass to celebrate, to offer you to God. You absolutely have no pain, no suffering, but happiness in the Glory of God. Rest In Peace, Grace.
Grace was such a dear, caring lady to me. I grew up with Merlin (my childhood best friend and neighbor aka Mersox by Grace and me) and spent 1/2 of my childhood time playing baseball, basketball at the Komareks. She even volunteered to type my 12th grade thesis for me because she had a brand new typewriter. She always carried a smile. What a great lady! Steve Mracek
