Gerry Lee Martin Jr. age 59 of Lansing, IA, died Sunday evening, June 19, 2016, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in rural Allamakee County, IA. Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home – Olson Chapel in Nashua with Rev. Vincent Fricke presiding. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Nashua with Adrian Martin, Marty Martin, Keith Martin, Thomas Martin, Anthony Martin and Brandon Gronwoldt serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home – Olson Chapel in Nashua, IA. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Gerry Lee Martin Jr. was born July 9, 1956 at the old hospital in Charles City, IA, the son of Gerry Sr. and Shirley (Bluhm) Martin. He went to school in Oelwein, Jesup, Maynard and Nashua before graduating from Nashua High School in 1974. He then began a good and enjoyable life. He married April Johnson of Nashua. To this union two children were born. He loved to fish, hunt, gardening and was an avid morel mushroom hunter. He loved to do these things with his wife, children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren on the Mississippi River in Lansing, IA. Gerry is survived by one son, Adrian (Marie) Martin of Lansing, IA; one daughter Lacey Priebe of Lansing, IA; three grandchildren, Thomas Lee Martin, Anthony Levi Martin and Allyvia Lucille Martin; two brothers Keith (Kathy) Martin of Bassett, IA, Marty Martin of LeRoy, MN; one sister Brenda (James) Gronwoldt of LeRoy, MN; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy and Jeffery Martin.

  3. Martin family what can I say Gerry’s and my journey started back in the 70’s when he and I worked at Salsbury Laboratories as reactor operators on second shift. I remember he and I on the mid-night bowling team together and then playing cards afterword till the sun came up with other Salisbury operators. Through out the years we stayed in touch as much as possible from time to time seeing each other on the river. Then the surprise what is the chances after I purchase property in Lansing that he is now my neighbor. Since that time we talked often. He was always giving me asparagus or morel mushrooms. God has a purpose for us all and he has now received one of the chosen few.. RIP my friend for I will miss you Larry Pint

  5. Oh Shit, so did not want to believe this! Jr, met you one time. Your sister is my best friend. But the one time I did meet you, you certainly made me feel loved and adored. Just as you always did your sister! You were a special man to many,,, but most of all the fish you let go… or just missed Do me a favor…. Keep that light burning bright and the Eagle soaring……. God must have needed another Angel!

  6. Jr was an awesome man. He loved his family deeply. He was a fantastic grandpa. He was a wonderful dad. And, he was the best big brother ,you could ask for. He will be greatly missed.

  7. so sorry to hear about butch. when he was younger we would visit with his folks in Brandon. then the family move away and only if they would come to family get togethers we would see the families. may god bless and keep u all in his prayers and comfort
