Mary Geraldine “Jerry” Naeve, age 94, of Nashua died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Nashua Congregational Church with Pastor Ben Scholl presiding. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua with Dean Kimble, Ryan Tierney, Rich Degner, Dick Isaacson, Dave Isaacson, and Mark Smith serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2015, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Mary Geraldine 'Jerry' Naeve was born on February 17, 1920 in Fraser, Iowa, daughter of David R. and Delia (Groves) Isaacson. She received her education from the Madrid schools and graduated in 1938. She attended the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and taught school in Ogden and Ridgeport between 1938 and 1941. She was united in marriage to Henry Russell Naeve on August 7, 1941, at the Madrid Christian Church in Madrid, Iowa. To this union, two children were born. In May, 1942, Russ began his service in the U.S. Army. During this time, Jerry worked at the Defense Plant near Des Moines making munitions. Russ returned from service in 1945, and in 1951 they built their home on the Cedar River in Nashua where she lived the remainder of her life. Jerry was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful homemaker, fabulous cook and woman of many talents. Her passion for the arts included painting, calligraphy, sewing and ceramics, which she taught out of her home. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Nashua and P.E.O. Chapter EN. Jerry is survived by her daughter, Karilyn (Tom) Claude of Algona, Iowa; son, Randy (Linda) Naeve of Ames, Iowa; two brothers, Dean Isaacson of Joshua, Texas, Max (Liz) Isaacson of Des Moines; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Zo) Coker, Bryan (Colleen) Claude, Erin Naeve (Dean Kimble), Katie Naeve (Mario Gonzalez), and Lauren (Ryan) Tierney; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russ; four brothers: Henry Isaacson, Dale Isaacson, Wayne Isaacson and Gail Isaacson; and sister Alice Mallow.

  2. I’m thinking of your family during this difficult time. My grandmother attended the First Congregational Church, and I recall seeing Jerry and Russ there on Sundays. Jerry was always quick to say a kind word to my brother and me. I’m very sorry for your loss.

  4. Karilyn and Randy, I was saddened to read of the lose of your mother. Out families go back many years. I babysat you many times and I remember dinners at your house. Our mothers were such good friends and ceramics was one of their many shared interests. In later years I remember the beautiful dahlias in your mothers front yard. Thinking of you during this time and may your memories keep your mother in your heart forever.
