Georgia Diesburg, age 85, of Clear Lake, Iowa, formerly of Nashua, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 Monday October 19, 2009 at Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua with Msgr. Stanley Hayek officiating. Internment will be in St. Michaels Cemetery, Nashua with Jesse Albin, Roman Albin, Joe Souza II, Jake Diesburg, Scott Diesburg, and Dan Lee serving as pallbearers. Friends may call 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. Georgia was born November 22, 1923, in Spencer, Iowa, the daughter of Galen and Laura (Crabtree) Rex. She graduated from Marble Rock High School in 1941, the valedictorian of her class. She was active in her high school band where she excelled in playing the coronet. She went on to earn a two year degree from Hamilton Business College in Mason City. Georgia was united in marriage to Norbert Diesburg at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Nashua. She spent her early years working in civil service while traveling around the world with her husband during his service in the U.S. Army. Georgia enjoyed time crocheting and was a wonderful cook. She spent many summer days playing golf with Norbert. Georgia also enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved attending family gatherings. Georgia is survived by two daughters, Mary (Russell) OKones of Clear Lake, Shirley (Joe) Souza of Tripoli; one son, Garland (Rose) Diesburg of Cedar Falls; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert in 1993; three brothers, Raymond, Richard, and William Rex; one sister, Lillian Nustad; two granddaughters, Georgia Medellin and Cory Okones.
