Gary Sweitzer. age 67, of New Hampton, died on Saturday, March 15 at Pasco Regional Medical Center in Dade City, Florida. Gary was born April 20, 1940 to Clyde and Grace (Kenyon) Sweitzer in New Hampton. He graduated from New Hampton High School in 1958. After his graduation Gary worked at Little Butchs Sudden Service as a cook until he entered the US Army in 1963. After his honorable discharge in 1965 Gary was united in marriage to June Hovick on December 12, 1965 in New Hampton at the United Congregational Church. Gary was employed as a machinist for John Deere for 31 years retiring in December of 1996. After his retirement they wintered in Dade City, Florida and in the summer he would work part time at various jobs in the New Hampton area. Gary enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, playing cards but he especially enjoyed time with family and friends. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Gary is survived by his wife June of New Hampton; three children Dennis Sweitzer and girlfriend Donita of New Hampton and her children Trevor, Karch and Judd, John (Beth) Sweitzer of Mason City and Carol (David) Hauser and their son Hayden of New Hampton; sister Sharrol Trower of New Hampton; brother Ray (Audrey) Sweitzer of Cedar Falls; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law Mary (Charles) Zook of Sioux City, IA, Shirley Sweitzer of New Hampton and Genny Sweitzer of New Hampton. He is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Grace, three brothers Lee, Dick and Veryle and one sister Jean. Cemetery: Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery at New Hampton, Iowa with Tom Sweitzer, Tony Trower, Chad Sweitzer, Tracy Sweitzer, Jeff Krall, Archie Trower and Trevor Landers serving as casket bearers.. Visitation: Visitation will be 3:00-7:00pm on Friday, Marc h 21, 2007 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.. Service: Funeral services will be 10:30am on Saturday, March 22, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Pastor Joel Dahlen and Pastor Kevin Frey officiating.
