Gary Greenley

Gary Greenley age 74 of Waverly, Iowa died Sunday evening, March 10, 2013, at the Waverly Health Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home in Fredricksburg with Pastor Al Bidne, Chaplain at the Bartles Lutheran Home in Waverly, presiding. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.
Friends may greet the family an hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Gary Duane Greenley was born Jan 16, 1939, on the Greenley family farm northeast of Raymond, IA, the son of Clifford and Fannie (Finley) Greenley. He received his education in a rural country school.
As a young boy and young man, Gary was active in the family farm operations, working in the fields, as well as milking the cows. On Nov 23, 1962, in Janesville, IA, he married Joann Wireman of Janesville. To this union one daughter, and three sons were born: Sheila, John, James and Matthew. Following their marriage, Gary worked for 7-Up Bottling Company, Waterloo, IA and shortly after decided to farm for himself by New Hartford. He suffered a broken back and decided to continue his education in drafting. Upon graduation, he started at Fort Dodge at Stan Hoist and moved to Grinnell to work for Miracle Recreation in 1976. He retired from there in 1987.
Throughout his life, Gary loved the outdoors; he was an avid nature lover. He enjoyed leisurely country drives with his wife, Joann, looking for wild life and spending time with his grand children, Madison and Kalen.
Gary is survived by his wife of fifty years, Joann; two sons, John Greenley (Sandra Pleggenkuhle) of Janesville and James Greenley of Waterloo; two grand daughters, Madison Greenley and Kalen Greenley of Janesville;, two brothers, Wendall Greenley of Cedar Falls and Ronnie Greenley of Dike; three sisters, Lois Marbach of Clive, Sharon Bouck of Raymond and Bonita West of Raymond.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sheila; his son, Matthew; and a grandson, Joshua.
Dear Greenley Family, Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of you dear loved one. It seems no greater sadness is felt than when we loss someone so loved. May you find comfort in your memories and draw strength from a promise God has provided which gives the hope of someday being reunited with Gary(John 5:28,29). This promised future is one that will be filled with great joy because it will include perfect health on a paradise earth where ‘the former things have passed away’ (Rev. 21:4, Psalms 37:29). So may you find some comfort in knowing that God does care and He does hear our cries. Please accept my most sincere condolences.
