Gary Dean Good, age 66 of Ionia, Iowa, passed away Thursday morning, September 4, 2014, at Coralville, Iowa of natural causes. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Republic Community Church, rural Ionia, Iowa with Pastor Darin Cerwinske officiating. A scattering of cremains on the family farm will take place at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Gary was born September 11, 1947, the son of Clark and Grace (Moine) Good. His education began in country school and he graduated from Nashua High School in 1965. Gary was baptized and confirmed at Republic Community Church in rural Ionia, Iowa in 1959. After graduating, he attended college at Iowa City, started working at John Deere. He served in the U.S. Air Force for three years and then returned to John Deere. In September of 1972 he was united in marriage to Diane Drewis. They divorced a short time later . In 1994, he left John Deere to try his hand at farming, purchasing a farm in Richland township His daughter, Michelle (Missy Grace) was born in 1995. Gary enjoyed spending time attending Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games and wrestling meets, driving all around the country and talking with anybody. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Good of New Hampton; his sister, Mary Jean Parks of Nashua; a nephew, Dr. Tony Parks and family of Stewartville, MN and a niece, Tammy Porter and family of Cushing, IA. He also leaves one aunt, Evelyn Moine of Nashua and lots of cousins and many others who knew him. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Clark in 2006 and Grace in 1973 also a brother-in-law, Merlin Parks in 1983.

  5. Sending all good thoughts to Michelle, Mary Jean and family and all those that Gary touched in his life. And we all know there were many. It is my hope that some of us might jot down a story or two that they remember about Gary. And pass on to his family left behind, either here or privately. That they might know more about him and how he had an effect on their lives. I still remember vividly, Gary and his horse, Joe, all riding back to our woods with a fishing net wrapped on two long tree branches to seine for minies.
