Frederick “Fred” John Reisner was born in Hawkeye, Iowa, on May 16, 1936, the son of Clarence and Bonnie (Nehls) Reisner. Fred attended school in Alpha, Iowa. Fred began his lifelong career in the dairy industry in 1955. Later that year, he married the love of his life, Priscilla Jarchow, on October 28, 1955, at the Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. Fred and Priscilla were blessed with 6 children. Fred was a devoted, hardworking, skilled and highly regarded dairy businessman for several local companies over the years. Fred was respected for his maintenance, mechanical, and supervisory abilities! Priscilla recalled Fred working a 16-hour shift the day before his retirement in 2005 at a new plant in Cresco because he wouldn’t leave until he was sure everything was “running right”. Fred was involved with the Pioneer Cemetery Commission and was a caretaker at the cemeteries for a few years. Fred was not a veteran himself but he sure was proud of all the veterans in his family! He enjoyed woodworking and collecting John Deere tractors. In his later years, Fred took a great interest in genealogy. Fred and Priscilla took many trips in their 65 years of marriage. When they went to California, Fred preferred to travel by train. When their children made the trip, they remember cruising down the road in their old red Ford station wagon with their feet hanging out the windows and the fold-down camper being pulled behind! Many of their happy memories were captured in black and white and transferred to DVD which is treasured by them all! Some of the most memorable family camping excursions were to Virginia, the east coast including Washington DC, and Yellowstone. Fred and Priscilla found the journey to becoming grandparents as the most precious trip of their lifetime. Fred is survived by his wife, Priscilla Reisner of Fredericksburg, IA; one daughter, Robin Reisner of Fredericksburg, IA; five sons: Michael (Carol) Reisner of Fredericksburg, IA, James (Deborah) of Fredericksburg, IA, Curtis (Mary) Reisner of New Hampton, IA, Donald (Lisa) Reisner of Waverly, IA, and Mervin (Julie) Reisner of Plainfield, IA; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Ronald (Mary) Reisner of Fountain, MN; along with many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Farrell; grandson, Dustin Reisner; and nephews, Joey Farrell, Leslie Havenstrite, Bruce Jarchow, and Leroy Jarchow.
