Florian F. Hackman, age 87 of New Hampton, Iowa died Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Holy Family Parish – St. Mary’s Center, New Hampton. Rev. Mark Osterhaus and Msgr. Carl Schmitt officiating. The pall will be placed by Lorraine and Florian's five daughters. Lector for the Mass will be Edmund Klimesh. Presenting the offertory gifts will be Lori Sinclair, Lindsay Kuennen and Leslie DeRudder. Ann Bennett will be the organist accompanying Karen Schwickerath as cantor and the Holy Family Resurrection Choir.
Interment will be in St. Luke’s Cemetery in St. Lucas with Louie DeRudder Jr., Brady Anderson, Florian DeRudder, Kyle Kuennen, Andrew Hackman, Tyler Hackman and Bryan Hackman as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Friends may greet the family 3:00-8:00 p.m. Monday January 3, 2011, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton where there will be a 4:00 p.m. rosary and a 6:00 p.m. scripture service. Visitation will continue at 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Florian Francis Hackman was born April 27, 1923, on the family farm near St. Lucas, Iowa the son of Joseph and Theresa (Schmitt) Hackman. He attended St. Lukes grade school in St. Lucas.
On October 11, 1949, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Loesch. To this union, nine children were born. The couple farmed in the St. Lucas area for 44 years until retiring to New Hampton in 1993.
Florian enjoyed getting together with his family and playing cards. During retirement he could be found watching a baseball game or putting together puzzles. He was a member of the St. Luke’s Parish, Holy Family Parish, and the Catholic Order of the Foresters in St. Lucas.
Florian is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lorraine; three sons, Robert (Laurine) Hackman of Lawler, Larry Hackman (Cynthia Hartman) of Calmar, Mark (Janet) Hackman of Omaha, NE; five daughters, Karen Hackman of New Hampton, Linda DeRudder of Prairie DuChein, WI, Marie (Allen) Kuennen of Maynard, Diane Hackman (Dale Tenge) of Bassett, Lois (Jeff) Anderson of Mason City; one brother, Joe (Agnes) Hackman of Fort Atkinson; one sister, Dorothy Bohach of Spillville; a sister-in-law, Darlyne Hackman of Decorah; 11 grandchildren, Louie DeRudder Jr, Florian DeRudder, Andrew Hackman, Kyle Kuennen, Tyler Hackman, Bryan Hackman, Brady Anderson, Lori (Darrell) Sinclair, Emily Hackman, Lindsay Kuennen, and Leslie DeRudder; one step-grandson, Roger Elsbernd; two great grandsons, Hayden Sinclair and Brice Krachey; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Francis in infancy; four brothers, Alphonse, Leo, Anslem and Jerome Hackman; one sister, Margaret Wenthold.
