Fern D. Heideman age 65 of New Hampton died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at her home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Pastor Matthew Brooks presiding. Interment will be in the New Hampton City Cemetery, with John Kuhn, Matthew Kuhn, Brian Tierney, Brad Tierney, Jared Aegerter and Dennis Volker serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 3:30– 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Fern Dianne Heideman was born July 7, 1948, in New Hampton, IA, the daughter of Henry and Viola (Vaala) Robinson. She attended rural country school near Jerico through the eighth grade and was a 1966 graduate of the New Hampton High School. She was introduced to Eldon Henry Heideman and the couple were married on May 16, 1970, at the Jerico Lutheran Church. To this union three children were born. Fern thoroughly enjoyed children and was a long time day-care-provider in the New Hampton area. She loved spending time with her family at reunions and holidays. She was a life-long member of the Jerico Lutheran Church and Redeemer Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband of nearly 44 years, Eldon; two sons, Curtis (Leah) Heideman of Coralville, Scott Heideman of Davenport; one daughter, Lisa (Steve) Aegerter of New Hampton; four grandchildren, Jared Aegerter, Journey Aegerter, Holden Heideman and Harper Heideman; one sister, Lois (Arnie) Tierney of New Hampton. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Veryl Robinson and two brothers in infancy.
