Evelyn Roberson, age 85, of New Hampton, died on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. Evelyn Ethel Roberson was born October 13, 1922 to Clyde and Blanche (Beaston) Cummings in Elma, Iowa. She attended school in Elma and graduated from Elma High School in 1940. Evelyn was united in marriage to Omar Roberson on February 18, 1941 at the Saude Parsonage. After their marriage the couple lived in New Hampton where they raised their seven children. Evelyn worked at various businesses in New Hampton and retired from the New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center where she was an activities assistant for several years. She enjoyed bingo, Iowa Hawkeye basketball, Cubs baseball and baking for her family and friends. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Hampton. Evelyn is survived by two daughters Barb Brummond of New Hampton and Sonja Galligan of New Hampton; five sons Gary (Kay) Roberson of Bettendorf, IA, Ron (Clare) Roberson of Waterloo, IA, Cal (Judy) Roberson of New Hampton, Ken (Barb) Roberson of Oelwein, IA and Terry (Joanie) Roberson of Des Moines, IA; 21 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two brothers Harold Bud Cummings of Chicago, IL and Don (Ann) Cummings of Canton, MN and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Omar, sister Viola Sis Ball and four brothers Dale, Claude, Carleton and Bernard Curly. Cemetery: Burial will be in Jerico Lutheran Cemetery at Jerico with Travis Brummond, Jeremy Brummond, Chad Brummond, Blake Galligan, Nick Roberson and Nathaniel Roberson serving as casket bearers. Visitation: Visitation will be 4:00-8:00pm on Friday, February 1, 2008 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Service: Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Pastor Glenn Smith officiating.
