Ernest C. Ferch age 66 of Nashua died Thursday, December 13, 2012, at his home.
Friends may greet the family beginning at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at the Charles City VWF 1505 North Grand Ave.

Ernest Charles Ferch was born December 27, 1945, in Charles City, IA, the son of Leland and Dorothy Mae (Delap) Ferch. He received his education in Charles City and graduated from the Charles City High School in 1964. He served as a Military Policeman in the United States Army for two years and was honorably discharged. On November 8, 1969, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, he married Shirley Billings of Charles City. To this union three children were born. The couple initially lived in Charles City and Bassett before purchase their acreage north of Nashua in 1971. He had worked for many years at Skyline Harvester until the company closed. He then worked in maintenance and the foundry at F & H Aluminum in Charles City. His health forced his early retirement in 2006. He was an avid stock car racer, and also performed in several demolition derbys and figure-eight races. He loved hunting, playing cards and Nascar. He will be remembered by his family for being a terrific mechanic and his dedication to work.
Survivors include his former wife, Shirley of Nashua; two sons, Aaron Ferch, Adam (Amber) Ferch, all of Nashua; one daughter, Renee (David) Williams of Alta Vista; six grandchildren, Austin Ferch, Ashley Ferch, Adrianna Ferch, Zachary Ferch, Charles Edward Williams and Carly Harper; one brother, Darrell (Jane Marie) Ferch of Charles City; two sisters, Darla (Roger) Throndson of Galveston, TX, Debra (James) Willner of Wells, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

I was very saddened to hear about Ernie’s passing. As well, I am sorry I couldn’t make to the gathering last night to give the family my condolences in person. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
im so sorry to hear about ernest. im just a cousin that lived in waterloo when your family lived there. my dad (Otto) or hap they called him. darrel did get to see me at uncle willis funeral. id love to hear from u darla, we used to have good times at the black hawk rollerdrome, remember? its so sad our families all split the reunions because their isnt many of us left except cousins. god be with your family through the days ahead and give u strength because i know u will all miss him. bettyraffield@att.net (schmidt) i live in pc florida now
