Elmer L. “Chico” Beaulieu, age 81 of Fredericksburg died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2011, at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Pastor Shirley Will from the United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Oelwein with Lathan Schaufenbuel, Mark McGonigle, Chris Shea, Robert Ohm, Tad Schneider, and Jesse Jacobs serving as pallbearers. Elmer L. Beaulieu was born January 9, 1929, on the family farm in rural Hennepin County, Minnesota, the son of Joseph and Odelia (Hamlin) Beaulieu. He attended rural country schools in Hennepin County. In 1961, Elmer was united in marriage to Viola Lightfoot in Dubuque. The couple later divorced. He enjoyed working on trucks, adored his “grandbabies,” and watching tv. He loved playing checkers and doing crossword puzzles. Elmer is survived by one son, Bill Beaulieau of Fredericksburg; four daughters, Bernice Schanbeck of Fredericksburg, Roxanne (Todd) McDole-Roeder of Garner, Irene Beaulieau (Robert Ohm) of Fredericksburg, Viola Fagle of Oelwein, and Shirley Beaulieau (John Schaufenbuel) of Fredericksburg; an 'adopted son,' Mark McGonigle of Fredericksburg; 32 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ronald Cornwell, and Donald Beaulieau; four grandchildren, Nikki Beaulieau, B.J. Beaulieau, James Lightfoot, Dallas Schanbeck; and 14 brothers and sisters.

  5. Bill so sorry for your loss. I remember Pops always joking with me and having a great smile on his face. He can now help watch over BJ and Nikki as he did hear. Thinking of you in your time of loss.

  6. Bill I am so sorry to see that your dad has passed away. I have on my calendar that his birthday would have been on Sunday and was going to try to ‘scope’ out a good one for him. He called me a couple of times and it was so nice to get a call from him just out of the blue. Nikki and B.J. are probably celebrating with him now.
