Eleanor Munson

Eleanor Munson age 85 of Waverly, IA died Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, IA. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2022 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory -- Olson Chapel in Nashua, IA with Rev. Ellingworth celebrating the service. Interment will follow at Horton Cemetery in Horton, IA. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Munson, Kurt Munson, Philip Munson, Emma Munson, Ronald Speicher and Kevin Zwanziger. Honorary pallbearers will be Lauren Munson, Coy Munson, Katelynn Stein, Derek Fenner, Cheryl Fenner, Tony Winchel, Brenda Winchel, Bob Speicher and Terry Speicher. Friends may greet the family two hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. 641-435-4134. Eleanor Lenore (Zwanziger) Munson was born March 25, 1936. She graduated from Nashua High School and then from Wartburg College with a BA in Education. She taught at several country schools, and then in Wapsie Valley and Hawkeye Tech College. She worked for twenty years with NE Iowa Regional Transit for seniors. Eleanor married Ralph L. Munson on March 31, 1957, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union they were blessed with three children: Marvin (Karen), Roger (Roxanne), and Mary. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Kathryn Zwanziger, husband Ralph on April 28, 2003, a sister in infancy, and a great granddaughter Abigail Hope. Eleanor is survived by the three children, three grandsons: Kurtis, Jeremy, and Philip Munson; four great grandchildren: Katelynn Stein, Emma, Lauren, and Coy Munson; and one great-great-grandson, Greyson. Her greatest joys were family and they always came first.
