Earl Jay (E. J.) Martin started his next adventure (rode into heaven) on May 14, 2019, when he died at home, of natural causes, with his life partner Susie Dreesman at his side. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory - Olson Chapel in Nashua with Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Interment will be held in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City with Amanda Willoughby, Zak Willoughby, Melissa Jacobs, Jessy Willadsen, Darin Zahn and Dan Zahn. Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2019, Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Son of Wilbur Jr. and Dorothy (Wood) Martin, he was born on December 12, 1946. He began his life in Corwith, Iowa. The family later moved to Nashua, Iowa, and began farming. He graduated from Nashua High School in 1966. That same year Earl joined the Army and served our country in Vietnam. He later graduated from Hawkeye Tech with degrees in the Tool & Die and Horticulture programs. Earl worked at various jobs in the surrounding area throughout his life. Earl loved riding his Harley with Susie, spending time with his family, Mandy, Zak, Zeza and Zayden. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. He is survived by Susie Dreesman, daughter, Mandy (Zak) Willoughby; siblings, Berl Martin, Merl (Mary) Martin, Verl (Sherry) Martin, Crystal (Dennis) Wedeking, Jerl (Deb) Martin, and Sherl Martin; grandchildren, Zeza and Zayden Willoughby; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur Jr. and Dorothy (Wood) Martin.

  2. 5/15/’19 My heartfelt thoughts and prayers to my Cousins on Earl’s passing. He was a wonderful and kind person and enjoyed life, family, motorcycles and Cars.   7. I will always remember when Earl came back to Nashua High School after basic to tell his friends and classmates that he was going to Vietnam. His younger brother Berl and I were in the same class (1967) and I remember Berl saying his father had been at Pearl Habor on December 7th. I wish I had thanked Earl and his father for their service. My sincerest condolences to the Martin Family.
