Duane H. Morris age 77, of Lawler, Iowa died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at his home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton with Pastor Brad Wysomierski of St. Croix Hospice presiding. Internment will be at New Hampton City Cemetery with Shaun Schwickerath, Thomas Hansen, Joshua Jepperson, John C. Jepperson, Randy Lepa and David Dowd serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are all of Duane's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may greet the family on Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service on Friday. Duane Harlan Morris was born July 30, 1937, in Tripoli, Iowa, the son of Cecil and Gladys (Harris) Morris. Duane grew up around the Tripoli area and received his education from country schools. He later obtained his GED in 1979. Duane entered the United States Military in 1955 and was active until 1962. He served his county in the United States National Guard. On April 4, 1963, in Fredericksburg, Duane was united in marriage to the love of his life Geraldine Slick. In 1973, Duane again returned to serving his country in military service for many more years. Duane had many different jobs through the years including living in different communities. He worked at various meat departments in grocery stores including, Jack & Jill in New Hampton. Duane enjoyed camping, being outdoors, socializing with people and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Listening to music, specifically 8-Tracks, was one of his favorite things to do along with working on cars. He was a long time member of the American Legion. Survivors include four sons, Tracy (Julie Voves) Morris, Tony Morris, Shaun Morris and Shane Morris, all of Lawler, IA; two daughters, Sheila (Randy Lepa) Schwickerath of Ionia, IA and Glenda (James) Samuelson of Medford, WI; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine Hunemiller of Sumner, IA and Phyllis Stuffelbeam of Evansdale, IA; many nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine in 2012; two sons, Troy and Tommy Morris; one granddaughter, Ellen Marie Jepperson; one sister, Marjorie Kuker and a half brother, Eugene Ginther.
