Douglas H. Gibbs age 68 of Nashua passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026 from complications of Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2026 at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua with Rev. Joel Becker and Deacon Jackie Schilling presiding. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Nashua.
Friends may greet the family from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory — Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Doug was born on March 17, 1958 in West Union, Iowa, to LaVerne & Joan (Hawker) Gibbs
He attended high school in Nashua and graduated in 1976. Doug further extended his education at Hawkeye Tech School for air conditioning and refrigeration; he went to school in Calmer to become an electrician.
In 1979 Doug was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart and soulmate Terri White, in the United Methodist Church in Nashua. Over the years, Doug worked at mowing the Greenwood Cemetery, R-Electric, Sheps Standard, White Farm, Beatrice, GMT, and Fanuc America where he was a field service engineer.
Doug received a certificate of appreciation from the United States Department of Labor, which he was so proud to have received. Doug served on the Nashua City Council for 2 years and the Nashua Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years.
Doug had a lifelong love for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Braves; in his spare time, Doug enjoyed traveling with his wife, going camping with his nieces & nephews, and woodworking and helping a couple nephews get their race cars ready for race day. Doug was a go-to man anytime anyone needed help; he was right there. He was a very knowledgeable man and loved to give it to everyone.
Doug is survived by his wife of 47 1/2 years and there little dog Maggie, his sister Lori (Dave) Green of Shell Rock, Iowa, sister-in-laws Connie Gibbs of Tyler, Texas, Glenda Schmidt, Ann Ferch, Tami White, Janet White, all of Nashua; brother-in-laws Greg, Troy White, Pat Ferch, Kurt Schmidt all of Nashua and his favorite mother-in-law, Mary White of Nashua 37 nephews, 22 nieces.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents LaVerne & Joan Hawker Gibbs, sisters and brothers in law Cathy & Jim Shepard, Jan & Beryl Biekert, his Brother Terry and his brother-in-law Tracy White.





I know Uncle Rick along with so many other dear friends are going to miss him. Condolences to his family.
My heart goes out to Terri and family. I remember Doug from years ago and the cool yellow/black car. Nice man.
