Dorothy M. Anderson age 92 of Nashua died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

 Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday July 21, 2014, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home – Olson Chapel in Nashua with Pastor Robert Treichel presiding. Interment will be in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly with Joel Betsinger, Troy Stille, Jeff Jones, Holly Rausch, David Swenumson and Mark Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Kaitlyn Betsinger, Keagan Betsinger, Matthew Stille, Megan Stille and Michael Stille. Friends may greet the family 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Dorothy Marie Anderson was born April 28, 1922, in Butler County, Iowa the daughter of John and Nellie (Jones) Anderson. She attended Nashua schools and was a graduate of Nashua High School in 1940. Upon graduation she began working for Myers Grocery Store in Nashua for several years. Dorothy was employed by Jakes Grocery Store in Nashua until the stores closing. Dorothy received a position at First Nashua State Bank working as a clerk. She worked at the bank for over 20 years until she retired at the age of 62. Dorothy had a passion for gardening and every year she would have a large garden growing anything from apple trees, vegetables, to numerous different types of flowers. Dorothy was blessed with a green thumb. She had an at home business for many years selling greeting cards where she met many new friends. Dorothy loved to bake, especially during Halloween when she would make cookies to be put into her bags that included popcorn, candy and her homemade snacks. She was very active at the Congregational Church in Ionia, where she enjoyed the fellowships and friends she made while attending. Survivors include friends, Julie (Jim) Betsinger of Nashua, Ginny (Don) Ackerson of Nashua and Karel Jones of Nashua; along with several cousins. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents John and Nellie; and one sister who died in infancy.
