Dorothy Grau

Dorothy Grau age 81 of Council Bluffs, formerly of Dumont, IA, died Monday, October 3, 2011, in Omaha, NE. Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua with Rev. Ken Peterson presiding. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Dorothy Grau was born June 9, 1930, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of George and Mary Plummer. She was united in marriage to Doug Grau on February 12, 1949. The couple had three children. She lived in Council Bluffs, IA, before moving to Dumont. In Council Bluffs she raised her three children while operating a beauty salon in her home. Dorothy loved family, friends, entertaining guests, fishing, boating and leading an active social life. Survivors include three children; Donita (Mike) Cahill of Dallas, TX, Sue (Ray) Schleidt of Rutledge, TN, Tom (Sandy) Grau of Millard, IA; six grandchildren; Scott Cahill, Angie Cahill, Chris Schleidt, Katie Grau, Megan Grau, eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Millie Card of Swisher, IA, Nora Hanlin of Kirksville, MO, Della Jordon of Plainfield, IA; two brothers, John Plummer of Bristow, IA, Gregory Plummer of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a grandson, Matt Schleidt.
