Doris I. Dallman, age 83 of New Hampton, died Sunday, September 2, 2012, at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Rev. Kevin Frey presiding. Interment will be in the New Hampton City Cemetery with Mike Schnieder, Rick Dallman, Jason Dallman, Ryan Weigel, Jim King and Brandon Miller serving as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the funeral at the church on Thursday. Doris Irene Dallman was born November 1, 1928, in Lone Rock, IA, the daughter of Kenneth D. and Lillian I. (Kortum) Marlow. She received her education in Lone Rock graduating from high school there in 1946. Doris had been active in her high school band and basketball team. She then attended the former Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught for a year in Terrill, IA, where she met her future husband. On March 2, 1950, in Farimont, MN, she married Richard Charles “Dick” Dallman. To this union four children were born. The couple initially lived in Estherville and Algona before moving to New Hampton in 1962. Doris began her teaching career in New Hampton at St. Joseph Catholic School where she taught for many years and then began teaching at New Hampton Elementary School. Doris was a remedial reading and Chapter One teacher throughout her thirty year career. Her husband Dick died on February 27, 1990, at the age of 60. Doris enjoyed time in her garden and was in bowling league for many years. She enjoyed camping with her family, traveling and reading. She was also an active quilter at Trinity Lutheran Church. Doris was a true sports fan loving the Iowa Hawkeyes and following the New Hampton teams as well. She will be remembered by her family as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her time with them all. Survivors include two daughters, Dixie (Bernie) Schnieder of New Hampton, Dawn (Darrin) King of Lawler; one son, Doug (Jean) Dallman of New Hampton; one son-in-law, Mike Weigel of New Hampton; twelve grandchildren, Mike (Ann) Schnieder, Michelle (Jim) Miller, Ryan (Michelle Adams) Weigel, Kristi (Tory) Reicks, Amy (Aseem) Patnaik, Jason Dallman, Rick (Sarah) Dallman, Kelly King, Katie King, Niki King, Jim King and Beka King; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim (Colleen) Marlow of Spirit Lake; Bob (Nancy) Marlow of Algona; two sisters, Wilma Bonstead of Reno, NV, Joyce (Marlyn) Bausman of Dubuque. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a daughter, DeeAnn Weigel; one great-granddaughter, Keirny Reicks; two sisters, Shirley Arns and Betty Smith.

  1. Always a smile, seldom a frown. A wonderful lady with a quick wit. Visiting her was a pleasure. She was such a special person. We greatly appreciated her coming to Reno for Carl’s funeral. It was so good to see her and the other Marlow family members again.

  4. What a neat lady! Doris volunteered in Mrs Junko’s kindergarten class when my son was a student. It was truly a privilege to know such a fine lady.

One of my favorite memories is how she always called be Robert, even when we were not in trouble.
