Friends may begin calling on Thursday, June 21, 2018, 5-8 pm at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Clarissa and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be held at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Clarissa. Donna Mae Holmquist was born August 11, 1933 at home on the family farm in Clarissa, MN, the daughter of Frank and Edith Holmquist. She went to country school for 8 years, then to Clarissa High School, where she met the love of her life, Ray Lunemann. Donna was a mother’s helper for a family in Edina, MN while she went to Minnesota School of Business. She then worked for Twin City Lines, a streetcar company, as a secretary in the legal department. She married Ray Lunemann on June 5, 1954 and the couple had five children. Donna was involved in her church and community while she lived in New Hampton, Iowa. She was a Cub Scout den mother, a Girl Scout leader, member of Catholic Daughters, Rosary Society and numerous other organizations. She was a stay at home mom until her kids were older and then worked part time at a shoe store. When she and Ray moved to Hopkins, MN, she began her 21 years as an employee of Target Corp. She loved the outdoors, especially sharing a hobby farm in Osakis, MN with Ray as they neared retirement. When Ray took up flying as a hobby, Donna was his flying companion, and she bravely took lessons to learn how to land the plane. Mom’s hospitality was beyond compare. She hosted many friends and family members over the years and always had a cozy bed, home cooked meals and a listening ear for everyone. Donna loved reading, traveling, and nature, but her greatest joy was her family. She was so proud of each of her children and grandchildren. She was a hands-on grandma, caring for them when they were small and attending their many activities. And as they grew to adults, she was their greatest supporter and most trusted confidant. Donna is survived by her children, James Lunemann, David Lunemann (Amy), Thomas Lunemann, Kathryn Liesemeyer (Loren), and Susan Heimerdinger (Gary), 16 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lunemann, parents, Frank and Edith Holmquist, Brothers, Marvin and Vernon Holmquist, Sisters, Lois Engel, Doris Belcher, and Vicky Craig.
