Donald J. King, age 79 of New Hampton, Iowa, died Sunday, June 6, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday June 10, 2010 at Holy Family Parish – St. Joseph Center, New Hampton, with Deacon Vic DeSloover officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the New Hampton VFW, and “Amazing Grace” will be played on the bagpipe. Pallbearers will be his sons David King, Mick King, Darryl King, Harold King, Ronald King, and son-in-law Craig Roalfs. A private inurnment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton at a later date. Friends may call 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Donald Joseph King was born October 9, 1930, in Lawler, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Agnes (Malloy) King. He received his high school diploma from Lawler High School. On September 15, 1952, Don was united in marriage to Bertha Moellers at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, IA. To this union eleven children were born. After his wife's death, he was united in marriage to Myrna Kingsley in 1984. Don was on the construction crew building Sara Lee, and then began working for Sara Lee when it opened in 1972, and worked until retirement in the late 1990's. He was currently employed by the Five Star Co-op in Lawler. Don enjoyed working in his garden, and going fishing. Survivors include his wife, Myrna; five sons, David (Peggy Rohash) King of Traer, IA, Harold (Mary) King of Fredericksburg, IA, Ronald (Deanna) King of Loves Park, IL, Darryl (Gina) King of Columbus Junction, IA, and Michael (Lisa) King of Oskaloosa, IA; five daughters, Diane (Craig) Roalfs of Osage, IA, Deborah (Bernard) Dickman of Great Falls, MT, Paula (Lawerence) Taylor of West Palm Beach, FL, Dona King of Anchorage, AK, and Lori King of Osage, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertha; and a son, Donald T. King.
