Dirk Firman
September 19, 1956 ~ September 9, 2023
Dirk R Firman of Nashua, IA, a man known for his selflessness, incredible sense of humor, and huge heart, passed away at 66 years old on September 9, 2023. A celebration of life will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Dirk’s favorite place, his backyard.
Dirk was born September 19, 1956, in Charles City, IA. He was the youngest son of Bruce and Margery (Scheu) Firman. Dirk graduated from Nashua High School with the class of 1975. Throughout high school, he worked at Shep's Standard Service Station. After graduation, he attended Rochester Community and Technical College. Dirk also worked for KLEU Radio Station in Waterloo, IA, and was a DJ at the Poison Apple in Cedar Falls, IA.
Dirk always fondly told the story of how he met the love of his life, Janise E Abrams; they locked eyes from across the room while The Beatles’ song “I Saw You Standing There” played in the background. They were inseparable ever since, making things official on October 26, 1985, with a beautiful wedding ceremony on a houseboat on the Mississippi River. They were later blessed with two daughters, Tehrene and Karlissa.
In 1985, Dirk and Janise moved to Rochester, MN, where they started their business TransVideo Teleproductions together. In 1990, they moved back to Nashua to raise their girls as they continued running their business.

Dirk was a great friend during his Rochester Community College days. We had a lot of good times, and he helped me through a rough spot. So sorry for you Janise, and your family too.
Dirk was always warm and welcoming to me and my family. He always made holiday and casual visits special with his stories and I marveled at the genius of his technical wizardry in the studio when I had the opportunity to see it. Sympathy to the Firman family.
In loving memory of Dirk. It was always a loving pleasure to be around him in the very short time that I knew him. He will be missed.
Always had a smile on his face. A “How are you” followed by a hug. Thanks for those Dirk
Dirk was a neighbor when we was in high school. When I was in the military, I stopped at the tavern in Nashua. Dirk happened to be there. We had a great conversation catching up on life, laughing at times, he had a great sense of humor. I just wished him a happy birthday a few days ago, then realized he had just passed away. Will keep his memories with me. Prayers for the family! Keep those great memories with you.
I have many memories of Dirk while going to high school “class of 1975”.

he was definitely a one of a kind type of person.
Fly high, rest in peace!
