Dennison Duane “Dusty” Leitch was born November 3, 1928, in Waterloo, IA, the only son of John and Dorothy (Marr) Leitch. The Leitch family lived in Fredericksburg where he received his elementary education in country schools and two years of high school in Fredericksburg. He then graduated from the New Hampton High School in 1947. On October 16, 1949, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, he was united in marriage to Dolores Hinecker. To this union three children were born. The couple initially lived in new Hampton before moving to Charles City in 1951. In 1953, the couple moved to Hammond, IN, where Dusty worked for the U. S. Postal Service in Chicago. He disliked the city life so much that they returned to Charles City in 1955 where he returned to work for the former Oliver Corporation. In 1957, he went to work at Salisbury Laboratories retiring in 1991.
Dusty loved his yard and flowers, square dancing, camping, motorcycling which took them on several long vacations. He particularly liked wintering in Texas which he and Dolores did for 15 years.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years; Dolores; one son, Dennis (Patricia) Leitch of Des Moines; two daughters, Denna (Dennis) Nosbisch of New Hampton, Denise Leitch (Angela Richards) of Cedar Falls; dear family friend, Kathy Mathes of Cedar Falls; one sister, Phyllis (Dail) Lambeth of Idaho Falls, ID; four grandchildren, Troy (Harat) Manges, Tonya Aukes, Tamara Leitch, Jeffrey Leitch; two step-granddaughters, Wendy (Lowell) Weil, Marcy (john) Minger; three great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren; several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

To Dennis and family – sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Please take care of yourself and your family. Sounds like your dad loved the country life !!! He surely left a great legacy with his name being passed on to you and your sisters. Our thoughts are with you and your mom and family at this time. Take care….Just a friend from WFB in MT. Sincerely, Portia
Our sincere sympathy to you and Dennis and our thoughts and prayers for you on Thursday.
So sorry to learn about Dennison’s passing. Our deepest sympathy and prayers to you Delores and your family.
We were so sorry to hear of Dusty’s death. We remember eating with the two of you and probably most of the Wenig brothers and sisters when we were in New Hampton. Lela (Lee) was just thinking about you one day last week and wondering how the two of you were getting along. I did not get a chance to ask Dail at the Weimerslage reunion. 62 years is a lot of wonderful memories-trust that they will bring you many hours of happiness and comfort. We shall be praying for all of you that you can find peace and comfort in the arms of Jesus-cast your cares upon Him, for He cares for you. Our Sympathy and Prayers, Duane and Lee Wenig
Sending my condolences to all of you, Delores, Denny, Dail and Denise. I have many fond memories of Dennison from so long ago…. He was one of the nicest people I have met! Keep your memories close at heart always! Blessings!
My sympathy to Denna and Dennis and all of the Leitch family. Cherish you wonderful memories.
Your family has my deepest sympathy. Dennison worked as a poll worker for the elections in Charles City. I always thought he was a very nice man. My prayers are with you.
Aunt Delores we were so sad to hear about Uncle Dusty. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. One of my favorite memories of him was when he took Adam out on the bike and Adam got lost so they could ride more. Even though you’re a long way away we’re thinking of you. Mom sends her love too.
So sorry to hear of Dusty’s passing. We will be thinking of you. Let me know if I can help in any way.
Delores: I just talked to Jane Manges yesterday and she told me of Dusty’s medical problems and I’m so sorry to hear of his death. You and he were married a long time. My heartfelt sympathies are with you. Geri (Holschlag)Brummond
