Dennis Miles Stock age 73 of Bassett died Monday, November 29, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua with Pastor Laura Hucke of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Ionia, officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Kyle Nordeen, Jacob Hubert, Travis Jones, Jay Jung, Walker Jung and Aaron Wedeking. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Nordeen, Anthony Garris, Jordan Garris, Isabella Garris, Cooper Ramaker, Jackson Ramaker, Jenna Hubert, Whittney Hubert, Maxine Hubert, Matthew Burik and Wesley Burik. Private family interment will occur at a later date. Friends may greet the family 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday. Dennis “Denny” Miles Stock was born November 1, 1937, on the family farm south of Aredale, IA, the son of Arthur and Ruth (Miles) Stock. He attended school in Dumont, IA, and graduated from the Dumont High School in 1955. Dennis married Donna Stilson and to this union three daughters were born. The couple later divorced. On July 25, 1986, he married Phyllis Boggess Hubert. Denny was a heavy equipment operator in both Florida and Tennessee. He spent the last 25 years working at Greene Limestone. In his free time, he loved to play bass and rhythm guitar and well as singing. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Ionia. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Corine (John) Nordeen of Story City, Jolene Stock of Rochester, MN; two step-sons, Steve (Jennifer) Hubert, Dan (Mya) Hubert all of Charles City; one step-daughter, Jan (Justin) Jung of Floyd. Fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Richard of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Tracy Garris in 2000.

  1. Phyllis please know we are thinking of you. Connie told us that Denny passed. We have been on a cruise and just got home Dec. 6th. We always loved seeing you guys and will never forget what fantastic clogging the two of you could do. We will miss Denny. Take care of yourself Phyllis.

  3. Some of my fondest memories come from the days I spent in a country band with Denny. He was a very very talented musician and a really good person. I thank God we got to spend some time with Denny several years ago at a family reunion. He will certainly be missed. Our heart felt sympathy goes out to all Denny’s friends and family – from all of us in Texas an Louisiana.

Dear Phyllis and family, Linda Anderson sent me word of Denny’s death; I’m so glad of this chance to tell you that you will all be in my prayers as you celebrate the life of such a wonderful man. I hope that there are lots of good stories and a few deep belly laughs even in the midst of a difficult farewell.   11. Phyllis, Last night in Denny’s honor we had chicken and cottage cheese for supper. To make it even better we fed the leftover coccidiosis to the cats. I know he was laughing.

He was a great man who will be greatly missed by us and so many other people, especially the first of the month Nashua Jam Night people. Denny had a great love of his music, his family and his friends. When one is in the music business, you meet a lot of people and make many friends and acquaintances. Denny had a class act personality that has touched many lives. Mike will miss his visits and phone calls with Denny. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and our sympathies to all of Denny’s children and families. We will remember the good times with Denny and he will live forever in our hearts.   15. Papa Denny was an amazing man. He taught me to write with my toes, and always teased me about my cats. He could always make me laugh. I will miss him so much.

  16. The world will be a duller place without Denny in it. There was only one Papa Denny. Who else would’ve taught my daughter to write with her toes? He was a good friend, a wonderful Papa, and a talented musician. Phyllis, we are here for you. We share your sorrow and shock. Denny will be missed by all who knew him.

  17. Phylis. Denny was such and awsome person. I loved him for his awsome sense of houmer. He always had a smile and a joke. He will be deeply missed. If you need anything at all I will be here. Heaven is in big trouble now with him there, He is gonna cause all kinds of trouble.
