Dennis Markee

Dennis D. Markee age 76 of Lawler, IA, died peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at his home following a lengthly illness with his loving wife, Mary by his side.
Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Lawler.
Dennis Dale Markee was born May 1, 1938, the son of Donald and Viola (Hanaman) Markee Sr. He married Diane Anderson and they were blessed with three daughters who died in infancy. Diane preceded him in death.
On August 23, 1997, he married Mary Barta. Mary has been a friend and soul-mate to Dennis. Dennis will be remembered for his passionate love of their dogs and his love of traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two step-sons, Paul Barta and Clayton Throndson; a step-granddaughter, Cassie Throndson; two sisters-in-law, Caroline Ohm and Bonnie (Bud) Kestel; one brother-in-law, Ed (Vicky) Throndson; seven siblings, Judy Schroeder, Bonnie Douglass, Dede Haas, Marilyn Baggs, Ronald Markee, Clifford Markee and Ken Markee; and a dear friend, Joe Lucey; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Lester Bogardus; two half-brothers, Donald Markee Jr. and Lloyd Markee; three brothers-in-law, Richard Haas, David Douglass and John Schroeder.
My sympathies to you Mary. Will miss not seeing Dennis with you at pool. He was a nice guy and may your memories be cherished forever. May he rest in peace.
