Della Reiser age 97 of Fredericksburg, IA died Friday, January 27, 2017 at Whispering Willow Assisted Living in Fredericksburg.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren Church in Fredericksburg with Pastor Todd Yeaton officiating.
Interment will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with Harold Lantow, Jim Franzen, Brett Franzen, Keith Suhr, Edward Suhr, and Everett Suhr serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Tessmer, Michael Tessmer, and Jay Tessmer.
Friends may greet the family 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2017, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Della Marie Reiser was born December 15, 1919, in rural Fayette County, IA, the daughter of Walter and Helena (Pleggenkuhle) Tessmer. Della was educated in rural country schools, and attended High School in Alpha. Della was united in marriage to Everett Reiser on January 27, 1937, at Stapleton Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born.
Della and Everett started their farming career Southeast of Fredericksburg. In 1939, they moved to a farm North of Lawler. They moved to a farm two miles East of Boyd in 1941, living there for six years before purchasing Everett's parent's home in 1947.
Della was a homemaker taking care of her family and the responsibilities that comes along with life on the farm. Once Della was an empty nester she began working at Kummeth Baby Furniture Company in New Hampton. On September 19, 1962, she began working for Meinerz Creamery, which later became Beatrice Cheese. She retired from the company in October of 1991 after 30 years of service. She spent many years working in the Laboratory testing new products.
Della enjoyed baking pies and candy. She had a passion for crocheting, sewing, and quilting and had made several beautiful quilts and afghans. Della liked to make butter with an old hand churn. She enjoyed volunteering and was the grand dairywoman of Dairy Days in 2009.
Della is survived by one son, Warren Reiser of Belmont, WI; four grandchildren, Geraldine 'Gerri' Suhr of Sevierville, TN; Keith (Lanet) Suhr of Fredericksburg, IA, Edward (Lavonne) Suhr of Fredericksburg, IA, Everett (fiance` Trudy) Suhr of Fredericksburg, IA; four great- grandchildren, Brittney (Bryce) Suhr, Eadie Suhr, Ely Suhr, and Emily Suhr; sister-in-law, Mildred 'Millie' Tessmer of Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett in 1984; daughter, Peggy Suhr; son-in-law, Marvin Suhr; sister, Labenous Kist; five brothers, Alvin, Dean, Woodrow 'Ted', Archibald 'Archie', and Everett Tessmer.

My deepest sympathy to Della’s family. She was quite a character, always had a smile and a word or two of wisdom whenever I would cross her path.
I enjoyed working with Della she was a wonderful lady. Whenever I ran into her no matter where it was she would stop and talk and ask how I was doing. My deepest sympathy to her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

At 90 yrs. old Della could recite poetry that was unbelievable . She recited 99 counties the 99 counties in Ia. and never missed a word. She was a very dear friend and always had a smile. We all really enjoyed her kolaches. We will miss her dearly. Our deepest sympathy and prayers to her family. Long time friends Norb and Mary Gansen.
My prayers and sympathy are with all of Della’s family. I got to know Della through Lavonne Snider, my deceased husband’s sister. What a nice friendly lady! I have a beautiful throw she made for my husband and a small white star that she crocheted and put in a Christmas card for us. May you rest in peace,Della, and enjoy your heavenly home with our loving God.
The Stepan Family purchased the Simply Elegant Spathiphyllum for the family of Della Reiser.
So blessed to have been able to spend time with Aunt Della recently. She was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed…but I’m certain she’s overjoyed to be reunited with her loved ones in heaven and is watching over her earthly family from above.

I read Della’s obituary recently. Over the years I have wondered about Della. Yes, she was a wonder in the kitchen and I remember enjoying some of her delicious food. I also have fond memories of her delightful laugh. Charlotte Karnatz Braland
