Della Johnson age 62 of Nashua, IA died Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at her home. A public gathering will be held 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the VFW Hall in Nashua. Della Kay Johnson was born October 4, 1954 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Mandel and Mary (Keune) Johnson. The family moved around attending schools in Turkey Valley, Lawler, Fort Atkinson and eventually graduating from Nashua High School in 1973. After graduation she enlisted in the United States Air Force. Della was a member of the Air Force for eight years. She was a command and control technician. Della traveled the world while with the Air Force. After being honorably discharged she moved back to Nashua and started working at Allstate Meat Company in Charles City. While in Nashua she had a few different jobs including McDonalds, Pamida and helping Mr. and Mrs. Owen Edson with nursing care. Della and her mother opened their own floral shop in Nashua. The two worked side by side and enjoyed creating floral arrangements for different occasions. She also worked at Nashua Plumbing, Heating and Hardware. She loved talking with people at the store. You could often find Della working in her flower garden. Gardening and crocheting were two of her favorite pastimes. Della enjoyed having her morning coffee while doing a crossword puzzle or sudoku. Della is survived by one sister Val Johnson of Fonddulac, WI; step-father TJ Stepan of Nashua, IA; many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
